A puncture cricothyrotomy set includes a tracheal tube and a puncture cannula arranged therein, which has a rotary actuating device with a handle. By moving the handle about its rotational axis, the puncture cannula can be moved from its puncture position into the tracheal tube far enough that the tip section is arranged completely within the tracheal tube.

Mechanical ventilator apparatuses and methods thereof

A ventilator apparatus includes a linear electro-mechanical actuator that interfaces with a self-inflating bag including an inlet configured to receive air and an outlet configured to expend the air. A three-way valve is coupled to the outlet via a first flowmeter, an ambient environment via a second flowmeter, and a patient via an endotracheal tube. The first and/or second flowmeters are coupled to pressure transducer(s). A control unit is coupled to the linear electro-mechanical actuator and the first and second flowmeters and includes a control panel, memory including programmed instructions stored thereon, and processor(s) configured to execute the stored programmed instructions to set an inhalation time and an exhalation time. A current inspiratory pressure and a current tidal volume are obtained from the pressure transducer(s) and/or the first flowmeter. A stroke of the linear electro-mechanical actuator is then controlled to facilitate inspiratory and expiratory phases of a respiratory cycle.

System and method for a tracheostomy tube with a secondary airflow opening and a dual cuff assembly
11744972 · 2023-09-05 ·

A cuff assembly for a tracheostomy tube includes an outer bladder and an inner cuff. The inner cuff is positioned adjacent to the tracheostomy tube, and the outer bladder is positioned adjacent to the inner cuff. The outer bladder is made with a less elastic material and operates at a higher relative pressure. The inner cuff is made with a more elastic or hyper-elastic material and operates at a lower relative pressure. A secondary airflow opening is formed on a lateral wall of the tracheostomy tube between the cuff assembly and a main distal opening of the tracheostomy tube.

Humidification of a pressurized flow of breathable gas

A system (10) configured to facilitate humidification of a pressurized flow of breathable gas delivered to a subject (12) comprises a pressure generator (14), a nebulizer (16), a heater (38), one or more hardware processors (22), and/or other components. The pressure generator is configured to generate a pressurized flow of breathable gas for delivery to an airway (24) within a trachea of the subject. The nebulizer is configured to provide fluid droplets (54) to the breathable gas. The heater is configured to heat a volume of the breathable gas before the droplets are supplied to the breathable gas. The breathable gas received by the subject exhibits a target temperature and humidity level at short distance d from the nebulizer due to one or more of a number of the droplets, an average size of the droplets, a gas flow rate, and/or an amount of heating power.

A surgical instrument for piercing into a human or animal body. The instrument includes an inner portion which is movably arranged within an needle-like outer portion. The outer portion connects to the inner portion through a spring so as to provide with the outer portion during use a load on the inner portion. The outer portion includes a proximal sleeve that provides a finger grip to a person, likely a surgeon. The sleeve is releasably connectable to the outer portion and the instrument includes a release mechanism for releasing the sleeve from the outer portion, which release mechanism is actuable by motion of the inner portion.
