A reinforcing bar coupler according to the present invention comprises a first coupler and a second coupler, which are integrally coupled by friction welding while the end portions of a pair of reinforcing bars are accommodated therein, and which are confined in contact with each other by means of screw coupling so that the pair of reinforcing bars are connected on a straight line, wherein each of the first coupler and the second coupler has, on one side thereof, an accommodation space that is recessed so as to accommodate one end portion of the reinforcing bar, and a catching groove, which has the largest inner diameter inside the accommodation space so as to accommodate molten metal formed by dissolving a part of the first coupler, the second coupler and the reinforcing bars, and which catches and restrains the solidified molten metal so as to prevent same from flowing out in the longitudinal direction of the reinforcing bar.

SLEEVE FOR CONNECTING STEEL BAR

The present invention relates to a sleeve for connecting a steel bar, wherein a body prevents generation of tolerance at the circumferential surface of at least one of an upper steel bar and a lower steel bar through a tolerance generation preventing unit, the body allowing the upper steel bar to be inserted from one side thereof in an axial direction and the lower steel bar to be inserted from the other side thereof in the axial direction.

The present invention relates to a coupler for connecting reinforcing bars which is used for connecting reinforcing bars to each other that are used in a construction site and, more specifically, to a coupler for connecting reinforcing bars which has increased strength and excellent fastening force on reinforcing bars through a structural improvement, and also provides increased convenience in assembly, thereby maximizing the manufacturing efficiency. The present invention has increased strength and excellent fastening force on reinforcing bars through a structural improvement to a coupler body, and does not require a separate fixing means by allowing a plurality of piece bodies to be assembled to a piece body guide provided with a magnet, thereby providing increased convenience in assembly and maximizing the manufacturing efficiency.

Ductile connections for pre-formed construction elements

Precast construction elements are described suitable for use in high seismic areas. The precast construction elements can be precast, pre-topped double tees. The precast construction elements incorporate a passive energy dissipation device in a flange. The energy dissipation device provides a ductile connection having a deformation capacity of larger than 0.6″. Adjacent elements are connected to one another at joints that include the passive energy dissipation device. Passive energy dissipation devices can be passive hysteretic dampeners, such as U-shaped flexural plates. Passive energy dissipation devices can be bar dissipaters (e.g., grooved dissipaters). Also described are passive hysteretic dampers that include U-shaped flexural plates held in conjunction with a reinforcement element that defines a circle around which the flexural plate can bend.

Coupling device, associated parts and a method of use thereof

Described herein is a coupling device, associated parts and a method of use thereof. In one aspect, a coupling device is described comprising a sleeve with an inner surface that encloses at least part of at least one elongated element to be coupled; and at least one deformation means fitted with interference between, and causing local deformation about, at least part of the inner surface of the sleeve and/or an adjacent outer surface of the at least one elongated element. A deformation means insertion tool, a coupling sleeve, a deformation means, and a method of coupling at least one element are also described. The described coupling device, associated parts and a method of use offer the ability to couple together different elements in a strong and/or ductile manner, coupling being tuneable as needed to suit the preferred application. The coupling described may overcome art issues associated with bulky size of coupling, in particular, radial protrusion. The coupling may also increase the coupling force therefore increase the load that may be managed across the coupling device. Further, the way the parts are assembled may minimise generation of localised points of stress therefore also increasing the load that may be managed across the coupling device.
