Described herein is a video laryngoscope apparatus for inspection of an oral cavity region of a patient is disclosed. The video laryngoscope includes an apparatus body, a camera arm unit configured to receive and releasably attach thereto a disposable laryngoscope blade, a light source coupled to the camera arm unit, a communication unit, and a power source. The apparatus body includes a proximal end and a distal end, and the apparatus body is elongate and configured to be hand-held by an operator of the video laryngoscope. The camera arm unit includes a proximal end and a distal end with a camera, and the proximal end of the camera arm unit is connected to the distal end of the apparatus body utilizing an adjustable rotary position linkage member. The communication unit is connected via a linkage device to the proximal end of the apparatus body, and the power source is housed by the apparatus body.

One aspect of the present disclosure can include an intubating airway. The intubating airway can include a first component (14) having a first guiding surface and a second articulating component (16) that is attached to the first component via a hinge and has a second guiding surface. In a closed configuration, the first and second guiding surfaces can be flush with one another so that the first and second components collectively define a conduit having an interior passage that is dimensioned to direct a fiber-optic scope or an endotracheal tube extending through the interior passage for tracheal intubation. In an open configuration, the first and second guiding surfaces are not flush with one another so that no such conduit is formed.

A ventilator conduit for a reversible airway device (RAD) is provided. The RAD can include a supra-glottic support member connected to a tubular guide (TG) having oppositely disposed proximal and distal end portions and TG lumen, which extends between the ends and is defined by an inner surface. The RAD can be physically free of an endotracheal tube. The ventilator conduit can include a hollow tube having first and second ends, and a ventilator conduit lumen extending between the ends. The first and second ends can be adapted for connection to a ventilator circuit and insertion into the TG lumen, respectively. At least the second end of the hollow tube can be sized and dimensioned so that, upon insertion into the TG, an outer surface of the second end is brought into direct contact with a portion of the inner surface to form an air-tight seal therebetween.

Aspects are directed to an improved suction catheter that increases the effectiveness of clearing the airway, reducing the need for separate suctioning and foreign body grasping instruments. The embodiments described herein provide medical personnel the ability to use one hand and catheter to selectively grasp an anatomically lodged foreign body while reducing the likelihood of lumen blockage and interruption of suction. The embodiments described herein further provide an auxiliary access port that allows insertion of a bougie instrument into a suction catheter. The suction catheter may be a Yankauer device or improved suction catheter with grasping housing. The bougie instrument may extend through the access port and a lumen of the catheter while still providing suction via the lumen. Due to the small size of the suction catheter, the bougie instrument may extend from the catheter's distal end when placed in close proximity to a patient's vocal cords.
