A roofing structure is disclosed. The roofing structure includes a roof sheathing structure, a riser positioned on the sheathing structure, and a felt positioned on the riser, where the riser is between the roof sheathing structure and the felt. The roofing structure also includes a first course of roof shingling elements placed on the felt and on the riser, where the riser causes a portion of a roof sheathing structure side of the first course of roof shingling elements and a portion of the felt to be spaced apart from the roof sheathing structure by at least about one quarter inch.

Expandable Flashing Device and System
20200181917 · 2020-06-11 ·

An expandable flashing device comprises first and second pieces of flashing material that overlap one another with hems or folded edges located on opposite lateral sides of the pieces that hold the pieces together, yet allow the pieces to slide or shift with respect to one another to selectively change the length of the device. In a first stowed position, the pieces overlap one another and in an expanded second position, the pieces may be pulled apart to increase an overall length of the pieces. The maximum length of material that overlaps between the pieces is defined as the overlap range. The overlap range defines the range to which the device can be shortened or lengthened to fit a particular installation. A flashing system and a method of installing flashing are also disclosed.

BELOW TOP OF WALL VENTILATION SCREED DEVICE AND ASSEMBLY

A ventilation screed with an upper attachment flange having a top portion and a bottom portion and at least one opening in the top portion; a drip edge protruding from the bottom portion and a return leg that protrudes back from the drip edge and extends beyond the bottom portion; a drainage cavity protrusion protruding from the bottom portion above the drip edge, wherein the drainage cavity protrusion has an L-shaped drainage trough portion having at least one drainage opening in a bottom portion and a substantially vertical portion with a top end and a bottom end in communication with the bottom portion, an upper ground portion in communication with the top end of the substantially vertical portion of the L-shaped drainage trough portion extending outward from the substantially vertical portion and a drainage cavity shroud extending substantially downward from the upper ground portion.

Systems, components, apparatuses and methodologies of the present invention are directed to techniques that ensure that all deck-to-wall, roof-to-wall and other constructions properly protect the home from the environment, particularly along the wetter coastal regions by forming a layered, waterproof seal of metal, plastic and bitumen. A modularized system of components, that overlap each other either over and or under to create a system that meets the design criteria of critical flashing components, each with waterproofing capability either built-in or applied onsite in use, are employed to cover critical building areas prone to water infiltration and damage.

Drip edge

A customizable roof drip edge system includes an inner footing, an outer section, and a tail integrally formed with the inner footing and the outer section. The tail is nailable to a roof substrate. The outer section includes a bridging member connecting the tail to an outer footing. The bridging member and the outer footing are configured for directing the flow of water off of a roof. The inner footing is spaced from the outer footing by a suitable distance and configured to be placed against an eave as a positioning aid such that the drip edge can easily and reliably be installed with sufficient spacing for the installation of a fascia board after installation of the drip edge. The drip edge may be bendable to user-selectable angles between the tail and the inner footing and outer section to accommodate a range of roof pitches.

EDGE FLASHING FOR ROOFS WITH FUNCTIONAL SURFACE MATERIALS
20200011062 · 2020-01-09 ·

Flashing for use at the edge of roofs or decks that are provided with surface materials are presented. In exemplary embodiments, flashing may be provided at the edge of a roof to retain or provide an edge treatment for an aesthetic and functional surface material, such as, for example, a cast paver, while at the same time allowing for water drainage. In one embodiment, a piece of flashing material contains a leg that is fastened along the edge of the top of a flat roof. This embodiment continues into two legs that form a V-shaped trough which comes off the roofing membrane and has penetrations at the bottom to release water. The outer leg of the V most commonly extends to a level higher than the roofing membrane in order to make contact with and edge an installed surface material. Various other shapes and end treatments, including various embodiments providing both an edge flashing as well as an integrated rectangular shaped gutter-like trough are also presented.

A PVC-based cover strip designed to bond to non-PVC materials as well as PVC materials includes a PVC layer coated with a barrier effective to prevent migration of plasticizers from the PVC layer. The barrier layer, in turn, is coated with a primer and subsequently a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The barrier layer is generally a polar polymer, such as acrylonitrile rubber which resists migration of phthalate plasticizers. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is a pressure-sensitive adhesive suitable for use in roofing applications.
