Disclosed herein are systems and methods for producing an illumination pattern in a gas tube of a facially-fitting device, which is used in conjunction with a capnograph. The illumination pattern is determined by at least one illumination parameter, derived at least from measured CO.sub.2 data, such that the illumination pattern is indicative of at least one breath-related/physiological parameter and/or one or more of the respiratory/physiological conditions determined/assessed based at least on the CO.sub.2 data.

NASAL CANNULA AND SECUREMENT SYSTEM

A patient interface for respiratory therapy includes a nasal interface having nasal prongs configured to contact nares of the user and form a seal. The patient interface also includes a securement portion having a pair of facial pads, each of the facial pads configured to engage the face of a user on opposing sides of the nasal interface. The facial pads are coupled to the bridging portions configured to urge the nasal interface toward the user's face to create or maintain sealing engagement between the nasal interface and the user's face. In some configurations, the securement portion and the nasal interface are detachably coupled to each other.

The air conduit may comprise a plurality of auxiliary structures, some of which may consist of a polymeric material, and some of which may comprise a polymeric material and an electrical conductor. An auxiliary structure may be a helical rib extending across a length of the tube portion.

Headgear tubing for a patient interface

A patient interface for treating sleep disorder breathing includes a textile tube that also provides support for the seal forming structure. The textile tube includes an inner and outer layer that are joined along seams to form an air chamber or passageway. The textile tube can be pre-shaped so that the textile tube resiliently returns to a pre-determined shape prior to the introduction of pressurized air.

An nCPAP device for as sting patient breathing includes a generator body forming an inlet, a chamber, and first and second flow circuits. The chamber directs pressurized gas from the inlet to the flow circuits. The flow circuits each include a nozzle, a channel, and at least one port. The nozzle emits a jet stream into the channel in a direction of a patient side thereof. The port fluidly connects the channel to ambient, and promotes entrainment of ambient air with the jet stream. In some embodiments, the channel forms a ramp feature directing exhaled air toward the jet stream in an angular fashion. The generator body requires reduced driving pressures to achieve target CPAP levels and reduces total imposed WOB as compared to conventional designs.

A patient interface including a headgear and a frame assembly is provided. The headgear is for maintaining the patient interface on a head of a patient. The frame assembly is for connecting to the headgear, and includes a main frame, and two side extension arms respectively extending from two sides of the main frame. When no force is applied to the side extension arm, an upper edge of a cheek contact section of the extension arm is closer to a mask central axis of the patient interface than a lower edge, so that the upper edge of the cheek contact section is away from an apex of a cheekbone of the patient when the patient interface is worn. The patient interface of the present invention better complies to a face by using the two side extension arms that conform to a profile of positions of upper halves of cheekbones of the face, and provides effects of good support and stability as well as dispersed weight and pressure.
