A LATCHBOLT RETRACTOR, A LATCHBOLT ASSEMBLY, AND AN ASSEMBLY FOR A LOCKSET

Disclosed herein is a latchbolt retractor (12). The latchbolt retractor (12) comprises a latchbolt retraction mechanism (30) mounted to a carriage (28). The latchbolt retraction mechanism (30) comprising a latchbolt assembly coupler (32) for operational coupling to a latchbolt assembly (22). The carriage (28) is configured to slide along at least one rail (14,16) for positioning the latchbolt assembly coupler (32) relative to the latchbolt.

Modular Latch System

A modular latch system has an activation module comprising an activation rod, a latch module comprising a biased latch, and a control cable connecting the activation module to the latch module so that rotation of the activation rod can retract the latch.

Adjustable backset cylindrical latch

A latch assembly comprises a latch bolt and a tailpiece including a first tailpiece member mounted to the latch bolt and a second tailpiece member. The second tailpiece member is movably received in a bore of the first tailpiece member and operably connected to a latch operator. The second tailpiece member is received in one of two axially spaced recesses in the bore in a first backset position and a second backset position. Relative axial movement between the first tailpiece member and the second tailpiece member is prevented in a first relative rotational position in the first backset position and in a second relative rotational position in the second backset position, and relative axial movement is allowed in a third relative rotational position to allow the second tailpiece member to be moved between the first backset position and the second backset position. A housing slidably receives the latch bolt therein and a casing defining a peripheral slot having two axially spaced circumferential portions interconnected by a longitudinal portion receives the housing such that a protrusion on the housing is slidably received in the slot. Relative axial movement between the casing and the housing is prevented when the protrusion is in either one of the two circumferential portions of the slot in a first rotational position in the first backset position and in a second rotational position in the second backset position, and relative axial movement is allowed in a third rotational position to allow the protrusion on the housing to be movable along the longitudinal passage between the circumferential portions of the slot when transitioning between the first backset position and the second backset position.

Side mounted privacy lock for a residential door

A door lock includes a latch assembly positioned at least partially within the door and movable between an engaged position in which the door is held in a closed position and a disengaged position in which the door is movable from a closed position to an open position. An outside spindle is rotatable about an axis and an inside spindle is rotatable about the axis to move the latch assembly between the engaged position and the disengaged position. A locking plate is movable along the axis between a locked position in which the outside spindle is fixed and an unlocked position in which the outside spindle and the inside spindle are each rotatable and a privacy lock actuator positioned on the inside of the door and movable in a direction substantially normal to the axis to move the locking plate between the locked position and the unlocked position.

A lock device that prevents operation of at least one chassis spindle from retracting a latch bolt, and which may provide auto-unlock features. Locking of the lock device can effectuate linear displacement of a slider body from an unlocked position to a locked position. Linear displacement of the slider body is translated into rotational displacement of a cam body that includes, or is coupled to, a locking shaft having a cam protrusion, thereby rotating the cam protrusion. As the cam protrusion rotates, the cam protrusion lifts a locking lug to a locked position wherein the locking lug prevents rotational displacement of a first chassis spindle. When in the locked position, a slider arm of the slider body can be positioned in a retention slot. Subsequent rotatable displacement of a second chassis spindle can effectuate displacement of the slider arm from the retention slot and facilitate unlocking of the lock device.

Lock mechanism with egress release

An exemplary locking system includes an outer actuator, an outer spindle coupled to the outer actuator, a center spindle coupled to a latch assembly, and a lock control assembly selectively coupling the outer spindle and the center spindle. The lock control assembly is operable in a locked state wherein rotation of the manual actuator is prevented, and an unlocked state wherein the manual actuator is operable to rotate the center spindle. The lock control assembly is configured to transition from the locked state to the unlocked state in response to rotation of the center spindle, for example by an inner actuator.
