METHOD FOR PRODUCING HYDROLYSED KERATINACEOUS MATERIAL

The method of the invention comprises the production of highly digestible hydrolysed keratinaceous material comprising the steps of (i) partly hydrolysing keratinaceous material with heat and pressure and (ii) optionally drying the resultant partly hydrolysed material comprising at least partly insoluble material and (iii) subjecting the optionally dried partly hydrolysed keratinaceous material to a chemical hydrolysis step with acid or base to obtain a highly digestible hydrolysed material, and (iv) purifying the highly digestible material. The invention further provides highly digestible keratinaceous material with an amino acid composition reflecting the amino acid composition of the raw material, wherein the amount of de-carboxylated amino acids is less than 500 ppm. Preferably all of the highly digestible material has a molecular weight lower than 10000 dalton, and preferably more than 95 wt % of the highly digestible keratinaceous material has a molecular weight of less than 5000 dalton.

Liver pâté and method for production

A method for producing liver pâté that models classic goose liver pâté made of goose foie gras. The liver pâté does not contain foie gras and only humanely produced raw materials are used. Aqueous jelly is obtained from collagen-containing animal tissue and concentrated into water-soluble jelly. Liquid fat is obtained from animal fat tissue. Raw strained animal liver is obtained by separating solid components. The concentrated aqueous jelly, liquid fat and strained raw liver are mixed, cured and cooked in a container.

METHODS FOR PRODUCING PROTEINACEOUS FOOD PRODUCT INGREDIENTS, A PET FOOD COMPRISING SAID INGREDIENT AND A METHOD OF REMOVING MALODORS FROM, AND/OR INCREASING THE PALATABILITY OF, SAID INGREDIENT

A food product ingredient formed from a keratinous protein-containing material, e.g, feathers, and methods of making the same. The methods include cleaning the keratinous protein-containing material, combining the keratinous protein-containing material with a cereal bran to form a mixture, and hydrolyzing the mixture to form the food product ingredient. Optionally, of the keratinous protein-containing material is cleaned and/or frozen within 5 hours of collection. The methods generate fewer unpleasant odors, and food product ingredients produced by the method can similarly benefit. The food product ingredient may be incorporated into a food product, such as a pet food product.
