An intravascular catheter includes a catheter shaft having a distal portion, a plurality of magnetic localization elements disposed within the distal portion, and an integrated electronics package disposed within the distal portion of the catheter shaft. The integrated electronics package, which can be a system on a chip such as an application specific integrated circuit, includes a power supply, a pre-amplifier, a multiplexor, and an imaging element driver. It can also include imaging elements. The magnetic localization elements can include magnetic coils and/or solid state magnetic localization elements, such as anisotropic magnetoresistive sensors, and can also be incorporated into the integrated electronics package.

An outer diameter difference, which is a difference between an outer diameter of the shaft in a portion where the marker is disposed and an outer diameter of the shaft in a portion adjacent to the marker in an axial direction of the shaft, is smaller than twice a thickness of the marker.

The present invention relates to an elongated catheter comprising a tubular section with a side wall with essentially annular cross-section defined by an outer surface and an inner surface of the tubular section. In the outer surface of the tubular section, there is at least one longitudinal installation recess extending over a first predefined distance over the longitudinal dimension of the catheter. A flexible circuit board is wrapped around the tubular section. Electrical wiring is disposed on the outer surface of the tubular section. At least one electronic device is assembled on the flexible circuit board and disposed within the at least one longitudinal installation recess. The at least one electronic device is interconnected via the flexible circuit board with the electrical wiring.

The present application describes various cannulas that can be manufactured from multiple layers of material to improve flexibility, manufacturability, and durability without increasing an outer diameter of the cannula. In one embodiment, the cannula includes an inflow section having a sheet formed of a shape memory material embedded within a polymer and having at least one lateral hole or aperture in the inflow section. The at least one lateral hole is defined by a first hole in the sheet and a second hole in the outer polymer layer of the cannula. The first hole and the second hole overlap so that blood can enter the cannula through the holes.

The catheter includes a catheter main body having an inner layer that is a hollow tubular body, a braid that covers an outer periphery of the inner layer from a proximal end of the inner layer to a distal end of the inner layer, and an outer layer that covers an outer periphery of the braid. At least one end portion of the braid is folded under itself to form a folded part, and an end of the braid is in contact with the inner layer and is arranged in a lowest layer of the folded part.
