A flow restriction device may include a proximal housing including an internal fluid channel, a distal housing including an internal fluid channel, and an intermediate housing interposed between the proximal and distal housings. The intermediate housing may include an internal chamber, and a slider reciprocally disposed in the internal chamber. The slider may include an internal fluid channel and a seal overlaying an outer surface of slider excluding the fluid channel, and may be reciprocally movable between (i) a first position where the internal fluid channel of the slider is axially aligned with the internal fluid channels of the proximal and distal housings to allow a fluid to flow therethrough, and (ii) a second position where the internal fluid channel of the slider is not aligned with the internal fluid channels of the proximal and distal housings and the seal blocks fluid connection between the proximal and distal housings.

A diagnostic imaging catheter is disclosed, which is capable of preventing a solution from an internal space of a hub from flowing into a portion communicating with the internal space of the hub and to which the signal lines such as the optical fiber and the electric signal cable are electrically or optically connected. The optical diagnostic catheter includes a rotatable drive shaft, an elongated sheath configured to be inserted into a biological lumen, a hub that includes a port connected to the sheath for supplying the solution, a connector portion that includes an optical connector accommodated in an internal space of the hub and optically connected to an external optical connector, a first seal portion that prevents the solution from the port from flowing into a first connection portion, and a second seal portion that prevents the solution from the port from flowing into a second connection portion.

PORTED IV CATHETER HAVING EXTERNAL NEEDLE SHIELD AND INTERNAL BLOOD CONTROL SEPTUM

An extravascular system is provided which includes a catheter adapter having a blood control septum configured to control flow of a fluid through the catheter adapter, the catheter adapter further having a catheter configured for intravenous insertion. The extravascular system further includes a septum activator slidably inserted within the catheter adapter and configured for advancement through the blood control septum to provide a fluid pathway through the blood control septum. Further still, the extravascular system includes an external safety mechanism comprising a needle hub and a needle shield interconnected via a tether, wherein the needle shield includes a safety clip that is configured to retain a sharpened end of the introducer needle within the needle shield. Some implementations further comprise an access port forming a portion of the catheter adapter and providing selective access to the lumen of the catheter adapter.

A catheter is capable of firmly fixing a shaft and a hub, and preventing a decrease in dimensional accuracy of an outer side of the hub in a radial direction. The catheter includes: a shaft that is a tubular body in which a lumen extending the shaft from a distal end to a proximal end is formed, and that includes a shaft proximal surface in which the lumen is opened and a shaft outer surface that is an outer peripheral surface of the tubular body; and a hub that is attached to the proximal end of the shaft. The hub includes a tubular accommodation unit configured to accommodate the shaft, the accommodation unit includes a hub melted surface that is directly welded to the shaft outer surface, and an absolute value of a residual strain of the accommodation unit decreases outward in a radial direction from the hub melted surface.

Catheter extension

A catheter extension can include an extension body with a sheath defining a lumen, a cable extending within the lumen, a proximal connector attached to the sheath and configured to couple to a catheter drive mechanism, and a distal connector attached to the sheath and configured to couple to a catheter. An axial biasing member can be coupled to the cable and integrated into either the proximal or distal connector and configured to exert a force on the cable in a first axial direction and permit movement of the cable in a second axial direction. An axial key can be coupled to the cable and integrated into the connector opposite the axial biasing member. The axial key can include a tab attached to the cable and a slot with an inner profile that complements a tab outer profile that can permit the tab to move in within the slot.
