Catheter assembly with seal member
A catheter assembly includes a catheter hub defining an interior cavity and a catheter tube extending distally thereof. A rigid actuator is positioned to extend proximally in the interior cavity and support a seal member positioned thereon in the interior cavity. The seal member includes a central membrane, a distal portion, and a proximal portion. An hourglass shaped actuator cavity is formed in the distal portion and receives a barbed end of the actuator. The outer surface of the seal member is in partial circumferential engagement with the catheter hub to define an air path that allows fluid communication between areas of the interior cavity distal and proximal of the seal member. The seal member may be configured for multi-use and include a biasing member that moves the seal member to force the membrane back over the actuator to close the membrane.

A system comprising a biopsy needle device comprising a cannula comprising a distal end configured to sever a tissue sample, and a trocar disposed within the cannula comprising a notch configured to retain a tissue sample, wherein at least one of the cannula and the trocar is divided into at least two segments including different echogenic coatings, an ultrasound probe, and a processor configured and arranged to collect images from the ultrasound probe and color code the at least two segments based on at least one characteristic relating to different echogenic coatings, surface textures, surface contours and dimensions of the biopsy device.
DRAINAGE MEMBER DESIGN & ULTRASONIC WELDING METHOD FOR ATTACHMENT OF CATHETER TUBE TO DRAINAGE MEMBER
A urinary catheter is disclosed. The urinary catheter comprises a catheter tube having a proximal insertion end and a distal end. The catheter also comprises a drainage member. The drainage member includes a wall having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface defines a drainage lumen having an opening in a proximal end of the drainage member. The distal end of the catheter tube is inserted through the opening of the proximal end of the drainage member and is located in the lumen. The wall of the drainage member has at least one window therethrough. The drainage member and the catheter tube are welded to one another at one or more welding sites in the vicinity of the window(s).
Retractable needle catheter insertion device
A retractable needle catheter insertion device is provided with a cannula and a needle positioned within the cannula to assist with insertion of the cannula. After insertion of the cannula into a patient, the needle can retract into a protective sleeve that contains the needle in order to reduce the chance that a medical practitioner will be inadvertently stuck by a used needle. The needle is carried by a needle support that is slidably disposed within the sleeve. A spring biases the needle support and needle toward a retracted position, and the device also includes an activation hub that works in conjunction with the needle support to control retraction of the needle. The retraction may be activated manually by the medical practitioner or may be activated automatically. A modular system and method of manufacturing is also provided in which catheters having either manually or automatic retraction can be manufactured using common parts.
Dual-lumen ultrasonic catheters, systems, and methods
Provided herein are dual-lumen catheters, systems, and methods thereof. In some embodiments, for example, a catheter assembly configured for modifying intravascular lesions is provided including a core wire, a dual-lumen extrusion including the core wire, and a manifold disposed around a portion of the dual-lumen extrusion. The core wire includes a proximal end configured to vibrationally couple to an ultrasound transducer. The dual-lumen extrusion includes a first lumen and a second lumen. The core wire is disposed within the first lumen, and the second lumen is configured to accommodate a guidewire. The manifold is disposed around at least a skived proximal-end portion of the dual-lumen extrusion, wherein the skived portion includes the second lumen without the first lumen. In some embodiments, the catheter assembly further includes the ultrasound transducer. In some embodiments, a system console includes the ultrasound transducer.
WELDED ON CATHETER HUB
The disclosed technology includes a catheter or sheath assembly and a method for manufacturing same. The manufacturing process includes obtaining a catheter or sheath having a distal end and a proximal end, and obtaining a hub pre-formed separately from the catheter or sheath. The hub can include a pre-formed receptacle portion configured to receive a portion of the catheter or sheath. A portion of the catheter or sheath can be inserted into the pre-formed receptacle portion of the hub. The receptacle portion can be melted to a semi-fluid state and can be compressed against the portion of the catheter or sheath in the hub.
ASPIRATION DEVICE INCLUDING AIR PURGE TIP
An example syringe includes a barrel having a distal end region and an inner surface defining a lumen extending therein, wherein the inner surface includes a proximally facing surface, and wherein the distal end region includes a distal end. The syringe also includes a plunger having a body portion and a distal tip extending distally away from a distal end region of the body portion, wherein the distal end region includes a distally facing surface. Further, the plunger is configured to be positioned within the lumen of the barrel and a portion of the distal tip of the plunger extends distally of the distal end of the barrel when the plunger is positioned within the lumen of the barrel.
SAFETY IV CATHETER WITH V-CLIP INTERLOCK AND NEEDLE TIP CAPTURE
A catheter assembly (10) comprises a catheter (22), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip, a catheter hub (14) housing the catheter (22), the catheter hub (14) having a collar (34) including a notch (36), a needle shield (20) connected to the catheter hub (14) when the needle (12) is in a first position, and a clip (40) disposed in the needle shield (20) that cooperates with the needle (12), wherein the clip (40) engages the catheter hub (14) in the first position of the needle (12), and the clip (40) disengages the catheter hub (14) via the notch (36) when the needle (12) is retracted to a second position to cover at least a portion of the needle (12). The clip (40) is mounted in the outer housing (38) of the needle shield (20) via a spade (66) having an outer wall (70) exposed to the outside of the needle shield (20), in order to reduce the overall width of the needle shield (20).
