Aspects of the present disclosure include catheter devices in which a bushing is disposed in an interior cavity of a catheter hub. The bushing has a flexible portion extending out a distal end of the catheter hub. A catheter tube is sleeved over the flexible portion. A needle hub with a needle projects through the flexible portion of the bushing and the catheter tube. The flexible portion is bendable to form at least one curve along the flexible portion. The at least one curve has a minimum bend radius when a first surface of the flexible portion is extended and a second surface opposite the first surface of the flexible portion is shortened.

Rapidly insertable central catheters (RICC) and methods thereof are disclosed. In an example, a RICC includes a catheter tube, a suture wing disposed over a medial portion of the catheter tube, a hub coupled to a proximal-end portion of the catheter tube, and a number of extension legs extending from the hub. The catheter tube can include a first section in a distal portion of the catheter tube formed of a first polymeric material having a first durometer. The catheter tube can also include a second section proximal of the first section of the catheter tube formed of a second polymeric material having a second durometer less than the first durometer. The catheter tube can have a column strength sufficient to prevent buckling of the catheter tube when inserted into an insertion site and advanced through a vasculature of a patient without use of the Seldinger technique.

Coupling devices for tube sets used with surgical gas delivery systems

A coupling system is disclosed for connecting a tube set to a trocar that includes a multi-lumen trocar having a housing that has a connector extending outwardly from the housing, the connector having a plurality of coaxial flow passages defined therein by a plurality of concentric annular walls, a multi-lumen tube set including a plurality of tubes arranged in a parallel relationship, a coupling including a generally cylindrical body having a first end portion adapted and configured to selectively mate with the coaxial flow passages of the connector of the trocar and a second end portion adapted and configured for attachment to the parallel tubes of the tube set, and a latch assembly operatively associated with the cylindrical body of the coupling for selectively engaging the connector of the trocar housing when the coupling mates with the connector.

Atraumatic coupling and catheter employing the same

A catheter includes a proximal shaft and a distal shaft having differing diameters; often, the distal shaft will have a smaller diameter than the proximal shaft. A coupling joins the distal shaft to the proximal shaft. For example, a proximal portion of the distal shaft can be inserted into the coupling through its distal end, while the proximal portion of the coupling can be inserted into the proximal shaft through its distal end. To provide an atraumatic transition from the distal shaft to the proximal shaft, coupling can taper towards its distal end, for example by using a dome- or frustoconical-shape for the distal portion of the coupling. The exterior of the coupling can be ribbed to facilitate bonding to the proximal shaft. The distal shaft can be formed into at least a partial loop having a fixed or variable radius of curvature.

DUAL-LUMEN ULTRASONIC CATHETERS, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS

Provided herein are dual-lumen catheters, systems, and methods thereof. In some embodiments, for example, a catheter assembly configured for modifying intravascular lesions is provided including a core wire, a dual-lumen extrusion including the core wire, and a manifold disposed around a portion of the dual-lumen extrusion. The core wire includes a proximal end configured to vibrationally couple to an ultrasound transducer. The dual-lumen extrusion includes a first lumen and a second lumen. The core wire is disposed within the first lumen, and the second lumen is configured to accommodate a guidewire. The manifold is disposed around at least a skived proximal-end portion of the dual-lumen extrusion, wherein the skived portion includes the second lumen without the first lumen. In some embodiments, the catheter assembly further includes the ultrasound transducer. In some embodiments, a system console includes the ultrasound transducer.

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a cannula unit with a cannula housing and a cannula, in which a cannula is injection molded onto a molding core pin having an outer diameter d1 to produce a cannula having a distal end with a larger outer diameter than the outer diameter of the remaining cannula, a first distal section adjoining the distal end, a second proximal section adjoining the first distal section, and a proximal end. A cannula housing is injection molded onto the distal end and the first distal section of the cannula and the molding core pin is removed from the cannula. A piercing needle with an outer diameter d4 is threaded into the cannula, wherein the diameter d4 of the piercing needle is chosen such that it is smaller than the diameter d1 of the molding core pin.

CATHETER HUB AND STRAIN RELIEF

A hub defines a lumen with a longitudinal axis along the length of the hub. An outer surface of a distal portion of the hub tapers inwardly toward the longitudinal axis as the distal portion extends distally. A strain relief includes a proximal portion configured to receive the distal portion of the hub. The strain relief defines a lumen that substantially aligns with the hub lumen when the proximal portion receives the hub. The hub and/or strain relief are configured to be fixedly attached to a catheter body such that a catheter body lumen substantially aligns with the hub lumen and the strain relief lumen when the strain relief receives the distal portion of the hub. Outer surfaces of the strain relief and hub define substantially similar distances to the longitudinal axis along an interface between the two outer surfaces when the strain relief receives the hub.
