A system for closing a door of a vehicle may include at least one sensor configured to detect a velocity and a position of the door, and a brake configured to decrease the velocity of the door. An actuator may be included to move the door to a closed position, and a controller may be included to control operation of the at least one sensor, the brake, and the actuator.

MOTOR VEHICLE HAVING A MANUAL REAR CLOSURE MEMBER

A motor vehicle is disclosed having a safety system that includes an electronic controller controlling an electronically controlled mechanism in response to inputs from a number of rear parking sensors to prevent movement of a rear closure of the motor vehicle in a closing direction when more than one object is sensed to be within a rear protection zone and the rear closure member is in a fully open position.

Apparatus and method of controlling door for vehicle

An apparatus can be used for controlling a door for a vehicle. A sensor unit is provided in the door and configured to sense an object adjacent to a region outside of the door. A controller configured to calculate a distance between the object and the door based on a signal received from the sensor unit, set a range by dividing and setting sensing ranges for each sensing distance of the sensor unit, and control the door to be opened while the distance to the object is gradually reduced in a state where the door is closed, such that the object is sensed within a predetermined range. The range is set by setting a maximum sensing distance in a state where the door is opened to be longer than in the state where the door is closed.

METHOD AND SURROUNDINGS MONITORING SYSTEM FOR DETECTING OBJECTS IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF A VEHICLE, AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING A MOVEMENT LIMIT FOR A MOVEMENT OF A MOVABLE COMPONENT OF A VEHICLE, AND DOOR OPENING SYSTEM OR COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE DOORS FOR CARRYING OUT THE METHOD

A method for detecting objects in the surroundings of a vehicle for a door opening system or a collision warning system for vehicle doors using at least one surroundings sensor is disclosed. The vehicle includes at least one movable component. The method includes detecting objects in the surroundings of the vehicle using the at least one surroundings sensor, detecting a current position of the at least one movable component, and identifying false objects from the detected objects based on their positions between the at least one movable component in its current position and in its normal position.

SMART OPENING SYSTEM AND A METHOD OF OPERATING A SMART OPENING SYSTEM

A smart opening system is provided. The smart opening system includes a vehicle defining an aperture, a door coupled to the vehicle to assume a first position at which the aperture is closed and multiple second positions at which the aperture is open and to move between the first and second positions, a sensor disposed to sense obstructions surrounding the vehicle and a processing element coupled to the sensor and configured to determine whether any of the obstructions are within a range of motion of the door.

An object detection system and method of operation are provided. The system includes at least one non-contact sensor for detecting an object adjacent the motor vehicle within a first field of view. The system also includes a power actuator for moving the powered closure member. An electronic control unit is configured to detect the object adjacent the motor vehicle using the at least one non-contact sensor and control movement of the powered closure member accordingly. The electronic control unit is also configured to detect at least one non-powered closure member is not in a closed position. The electronic control unit adjusts the first field of view of the at least one non-contact sensor to a second field of view and operates the at least one non-contact sensor using the second field of view in response to detecting the at least one non-powered closure member is not in the closed position.

Method and system for contactless obstacle detection for a motor vehicle having a front side door and a rear side door

A method and a system for contactless obstacle detection for a motor vehicle having a front side door and a rear side door, using a single primary obstacle sensor provided on the motor vehicle, preferably in the form of a ToF sensor, which is configured to monitor an opening region of the front side door, and, at least as long as the front side door is closed, also to monitor an opening region of the rear side door, the method comprising the following step, which is carried out repeatedly: determining a current maximum allowed opening angle for the rear side door based on an output of a monitoring of the opening region of the rear side door by the primary obstacle sensor and taking into account a current opening state of the front side door.
