FLEXIBLE CATHETER DEVICES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USE
20230263993 · 2023-08-24 ·

A flexible delivery catheter comprising an outer jacket, a coil layer, and a braided layer where the coil layer is disposed within the inner lumen of the braided layer, and the braided layer is disposed between the outer jacket and the coil layer. The coil layer is wound to resist axial compression and tension applied to the delivery catheter; the coil layer facilitates bending of the delivery catheter in a direction away from the longitudinal axis of the delivery catheter. The coil layer and the braided layer are provided along a distal tip portion of the delivery catheter, the distal tip portion extending along a length of the delivery catheter from a distal end of the delivery catheter toward the proximal end of the delivery catheter.

Conduit for Transseptal Passage to the Aorta

A conduit for creating a passage from a right atrium to a left atrium, through a mitral valve into the left ventricle, and to provide a passage from the left ventricle into the aortic valve. The conduit includes an elongate tubular member having a shaft with a proximal section and a distal loop section at a distal end of the proximal section. The distal loop section includes a proximal curve, a distal curve, a generally straight segment extending between the curves, and a distal tip. The shaft in the distal loop section curves back on itself so that proximal curve is formed by a part of the shaft that is closer along the length of the shaft to the distal tip. The shapes of the proximal and distal curves are selected to direct the distal tip into the mitral valve after it has crossed the inter-atrial septum from the right atrium to the left atrium of the heart, and to orient the distal opening of the distal tip towards the aortic valve when the proximal curve is in the mitral valve and the distal tip is in the left ventricle.

Catheter

A catheter is disclosed having a distal end portion of a shaft with high breaking strength even if a wall thickness of the distal end portion of the shaft is relatively small. The catheter includes an elongated tube shaped shaft. The shaft has an inner layer having a lumen along a longitudinal direction, an outer layer covering an outer peripheral side of the inner layer, and a reinforcement body disposed on the outer peripheral side of the inner layer. The outer layer has a distal outer layer on a distal end portion of the shaft, an intermediate outer layer proximal to the distal outer layer, and a proximal outer layer proximal to the intermediate outer layer. The intermediate outer layer is more flexible and thicker than the proximal outer layer, and a distal end of the reinforcement body is located proximal to a distal end of the intermediate outer layer.

CATHETER WITH A BALLOON AND A SEPARATE INFLATION LUMEN

A catheter (1) includes an elongated member (2) having a proximal end (4) and a distal end (3). An inflatable balloon (5) is arranged on the elongated member in an area of the distal end thereof, the balloon extending from a distal position (6) to a proximal position (7). The elongated member includes an inner lumen (8) extending from the distal end to an end position (9) which is proximal to the balloon. The inner lumen is open at the distal end. The catheter further includes a duct (12) connected to the proximal end and to the balloon at the proximal position. The duct defines a separate lumen to convey a fluid to and from the balloon.

Catheter including contractible electroactive elements

In some examples, a catheter includes an elongated body that includes a proximal portion and a distal portion, and one or more electroactive elements in at least one of the proximal portion or the distal portion of the elongated body. The one or more electroactive elements each include a contractive material configured contract in response to an application of an electrical signal to the respective electroactive element. The contraction of the electroactive elements is configured to change a dimension or a shape of the elongated body. The electroactive elements may be distributed around the elongated body at the distal portion of the elongated body, such as in different axial or radial positions. The electroactive elements may comprise a nickel titanium (NiTi) alloy having a Ni:Ti composition of about 50:50.

FLEXIBLE CANNULA INSERTION DEVICE, SYSTEM AND PROCESS

An insertion set system includes a base configured to be secured to a patient, and a flexible tubing on the base. The flexible tubing has a distal end portion forming a cannula to be inserted into the patient. An inserter having a needle is received by the base. The needle has a channel in which the distal end portion of the flexible tubing is received. The needle is able to slide relative to the flexible tubing, to selectively withdraw the needle off of the distal end portion of the flexible tubing. The base may include a passage for fluid flow arranged transverse to the axial dimension of the distal end portion of the flexible tubing.

Sheath retainer devices, systems and methods

In general, medical sheath systems that can employ retainer devices having a plurality of channels configured to retain a sheath assembly in one or more curved configurations are described. In one embodiment, a retainer device may releasably retain a curvable tube of the sheath assembly in any of multiple curved configurations that range, for example, in selectable increments between 0° to 180°.
