20220347431 · 2022-11-03 ·

A catheter inserter (100) including an actuator assembly (125) to move a catheter assembly outside a housing (101) by engaging the catheter assembly multiple times, in an example. The inserter includes a needle assembly (140) in a housing that has a first position with a needle extending from the housing and a second position with the needle retracted into the housing. A catheter assembly (180) is removably positioned in the housing and includes a catheter (181) and a hub (182) connected to the catheter. An actuator assembly (125) is further mounted to the housing and operates to selectively engage a guidewire assembly to move the guidewire past the needle and to selectively engage the catheter assembly to move the catheter and the hub outside the housing.

Over-the-needle expandable catheter

The present disclosure is directed to an over-the-needle (OTN) catheter assembly having an expandable catheter. More specifically, the OTN catheter assembly includes a catheter having an expandable body with a proximal end and a distal end coaxially mounted onto a needle. The body defines a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end. Further, the body is expandable between a compressed length and an expanded length. The needle is configured within the lumen of the catheter and has a first length. The first length is longer than the compressed length of the catheter and shorter than the expanded length of the catheter. In addition, the body of the catheter is configured to expand from the compressed length to the expanded length when heat is applied to the catheter such that the distal end of the catheter extends past a distal end of the needle.

A catheter assembly (1) includes an inner member (12) having a proximal end (15), a distal end (13), and a lumen configured to store a hydrating fluid (28) An outer member (10) has a proximal end (19), a distal end (16), and a lumen configured to receive therein a portion of the inner member (12) The outer member (10) is movable relative to the inner member (12) at least one of, between a first position (FIG. 1) preventing fluid (28) from passing out of the at least one drainage opening (14) from within the lumen of the inner member (12) and a second position (FIG. 2) allowing fluid (28) to pass out of the at least one drainage opening (14) from within the lumen of the inner member (12).

Variable length catheter for treating a vessel containing thrombus

A system and method for treating a vessel is provided. A catheter system includes an inner elongated element and an outer elongated element positioned coaxially with respect to the inner elongated element. A proximal occlusion element is positioned at and is flush with the distal end of the outer elongated element. A distal occlusion element is positioned at a distal end of the inner elongated element. The distal end of the inner elongated element is distal to and movable with respect to the outer elongated element distal end. One or both of proximal occlusion element and distal occlusion element is a compliant balloon, configured to form a funnel shape upon proximal movement of the outer elongated element and/or the inner elongated element.

Catheter with a bendable zone
09775965 · 2017-10-03 · ·

A catheter insertable into a urethra to drain urine from a bladder includes a tubular portion, a sleeve disposed relative to the tubular portion, with the tubular portion having a bendable zone that is configured to allow the catheter to fold to a compact length. The catheter has a total catheter length measured between an end of a connector that is attachable to a drainage bag and an insertion end of the tubular portion that is insertable into the bladder. The compact length is less than the total catheter length, and the sleeve is operable to support the tubular portion by removing the bend in the bendable zone to thus align the connector axially with the insertion end of the tubular portion.

Obturator to Facilitate Catheter Line Draw

A vascular access device to passively open a fluid path within a vasculature. The vascular access device may include a catheter and an obturator slidably positioned within the lumen of the catheter. The catheter may have a proximal end, a distal tip comprising an opening having an inner diameter, a sidewall defining a lumen between the proximal end and distal tip. The obturator may have a distal end with an outer diameter configured to form an interference fit with the inner diameter of the distal tip. The obturator may be positioned within the lumen to open various fluid pathways. The obturator may be repositioned to move the catheter tip.

DILATOR WITH SLIT AND SLIDABLE SLEEVE

A dilator comprises a guide extending through a tube, and a slidable sleeve exterior to the tube, such that a slit in the tube extending from a first end of the tube to a second end of the tube, opposite of the first end, is closed by a force applied via the slidable sleeve. When closed, the slit does not interfere with the tube being used as a dilator to dilate tissues of a patient through which the guide extends. When opened, the slit allows the tube to be placed onto the guide or removed from the guide.

STENT DELIVERY SYSTEMS WITH A REDUCED PROFILE

Medical devices, medical device systems, and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. An example medical device may include an inner shaft having a stent receiving region. A bumper shaft may be disposed about the inner shaft. A deployment sheath may be slidably disposed about the inner shaft. The deployment sheath may have a body region and a distal stent covering region. The distal stent covering region may have an outer diameter that is smaller than an outer diameter of the body region.

A neurovascular catheter extension segment is provided, such as for distal neurovascular access or aspiration. The neurovascular catheter extension segment includes 1) an elongate flexible control wire having a proximal end and a distal end and 2) a tubular extension segment having a side wall defining a central lumen carried by the distal end of the control wire. The side wall of the tubular extension segment includes a tubular inner liner, a tie layer separated from the lumen by the inner liner, a helical coil surrounding the tie layer, and an outer jacket surrounding the helical coil. The extension segment may be introduced into the proximal end of a neurovascular catheter and advanced distally to extend beyond the catheter and thereby extend the reach of the catheter.
