Active Shooter Shield System
Examples herein describe systems and methods for securing an opening and disorienting an active shooter. A command device can send a deployment command to a zone in a building. In response, canopies in the zone can deploy a roll-up door made of Kevlar that electromagnetically locks shut. The canopies can include blindingly bright lights and deafening sirens that disorient the shooter. The doors can block off rooms or other areas of a school where children can huddle safely until the shooter is apprehended. Canopies without doors can also be used at some openings to disorient the shooter.
Freezer blast cell fabric roll up door
A freezer blast cell fabric roll up door is disclosed, wherein the freezer blast cell fabric roll up door is built to reliably withstand the high velocity wind loads and harsh freezing environments of a blast freezer. In one example, the presently disclosed freezer blast door comprises a drive or main assembly that further comprises a head plate bracket assembly, a brush bar assembly, a barrel assembly, a guide assembly, and a curtain assembly.
Screen assembly
A screen assembly includes a support structure. A roller assembly is mounted on the support structure. A flexible panel with a distal end is mounted on the roller assembly so that the flexible panel can be wound on to and off the roller assembly as the flexible panel is retracted and extended. Two opposed track assemblies are arranged on the support structure, sides of the flexible panel and each track assembly being configured so that the sides of the flexible panel can slide within the track assemblies as the flexible panel is retracted and extended. At least one of the track assemblies has a static support that is fixed relative to the support structure and a dynamic support that is displaceable relative to the static support. An adjustment mechanism is operatively connected to the static and dynamic supports to adjust a lateral position of the dynamic support relative to the static support. An elongate guide assembly is mounted on a proximal end of the flexible panel to guide movement of the flexible panel with respect to the track assemblies. An adjustment mechanism is operatively connected to the static and dynamic supports to adjust a lateral position of the dynamic support relative to the static support. An insert is mounted on at least one end of the guide assembly. The dynamic support of said at least one of the track assemblies includes a runner in which the insert is received to slide or roll with respect to the dynamic support as the flexible panel is retracted and extended.
Closure Locking System
A lock module comprising a housing, a lock pawl, and an actuator. The lock pawl may be moveable between an extended position and a retracted position, wherein the lock pawl extends from the housing by a greater distance in the extended position than in the retracted position. The actuator may be configured to selectively couple to the lock pawl, the lock module being in a locked configuration when the actuator is coupled to the lock pawl. The lock pawl may be configured to move in a first direction as a closure moves from a first position to a second position and the lock pawl may be configured to move in a second direction as the closure moves from the second position to the first position. The first direction may be opposite the second direction. The lock pawl may be configured to block movement of the closure when the lock module is in the locked configuration.
Low friction high speed roll door at high wind loads
A high speed roll door is movable between an open and a closed position at an opening of a building. The door includes a flexible curtain and a pair of side columns. Each side column provides an inner track to guide the curtain in vertical movement and restrain the curtain from lateral movement during deployment and retraction. The curtain further includes multiple cross bars supporting the flexible curtain from one of the pair of side columns to the other. Each of the cross bars further includes a first longitudinal bar sandwiching part of the curtain; and a second longitudinal bar pivotally connected to the first longitudinal bar. The hinge has an axis of rotation parallel to the first and the second longitudinal bars. At least a wheel is rotatably affixed to each end of the second longitudinal bar to engage the inner track of each of the side columns.
Universal automatic tensioning system for roller blinds and awnings with side rails
An universal automatic tensioning system, for roller blinds and awnings with side rails, comprising a crossbar (2) equipped with a spring pin (6) that can move along a side guide (3) that defines the rail for the shift of the awning (1), characterized in that it includes one or more fixed clip(s) (4) that can be hooked by the spring pin (6) causing the locking of the roller blind (1); a further movement of the awning's crossbar (2) will force the spring pin (6) engaging with a mobile flap (5) that works as a sort of bridge for the spring pin (6), causing the unlocking of the crossbar (2), so as to realize the setting for the automatic tensioning of the roller blind (1).

Canopies without doors can also be used at some openings to disorient the shooter.
Shade System with Dual Durometer End Tip
An end tip configured to travel in a track of a shade system. The end tip includes a first body section having a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is made of a first material having a first hardness, and the second portion is made of a second material having a second hardness. The first hardness is higher than the second hardness. Also disclosed is a shade system including first and second tracks, a shade, and end tips. The end tips are configured to pull out of the tracks when a static force of at least 10 lbs. is applied to the end tips.
Slip Fit Guide
In one embodiment, a guide system includes a first member configured to be fixed to a structure. A coupling element is fixed to the first member. A second member is moveable relative to the first member. The second member is configured to receive the coupling element to couple the first member to the second member. There is a channel between the first member and the second member when the first member is coupled to the second member. The channel is configured to receive a portion of a closure.
ELECTROMAGNETICALLY OPERATED PROTECTION MECHANISM, SYSTEM, AND METHOD
A room protection mechanism for protecting access through a window or doorway includes a flexible barrier sheet adjustable between a collapsed, storage configuration, and a deployed configuration. The protection mechanism includes a housing storing the flexible barrier sheet in the collapsed configuration. Sheet magnetic elements are attached to the flexible barrier sheet, and structured to magnetically couple to frame magnetic elements mounted to a frame of the doorway or window. The protection mechanism can be deployed, such as in a school or other institutional setting, to position the flexible barrier sheet to block access through the doorway or window. The flexible barrier sheet may be formed of or include a ballistic material.
