Dual pipe drill head quick interchange joint

A system for connecting a drill bit and pipe puller to a drill string. The system includes a downhole tool having an internal cavity and a through-hole in its wall. A coupler may be slidingly received in the cavity and connected using one or more fasteners which interconnect a groove in the coupler to the wall of the downhole tool. Fasteners used may be screws or bolts interconnecting the wall of the tool with radial holes in the coupler. Alternatively, bolts may interconnect the wall with a circumferential groove on the coupler. A drill bit may be threaded into the coupler. The coupler allows drill bits and other tools to be connected and disconnected from a downhole tool without unthreading the drill bit.

The invention relates to connectors for casings used in high temperature wells. The connectors of the present invention may be used for connecting casing segments of geothermal or oil wells. The connector is simple in design and able to take up thermal expansion due to temperature change when high temperature media starts to flow through the casings and when the well needs to be cooled down for maintenance. The connector of the present invention uses a new sealing mechanism for preventing leaking during operation.

A tool to remove portions of casing from a wellbore. A tool may include a bottom sub-assembly and casing that selectively detach from a sub-assembly. This may allow for tools and casing within the wellbore to be efficiently and effectively removed from the wellbore without having to cut tools down well.

SELF-LOCKING COUPLER
20210388680 · 2021-12-16 ·

The disclosed embodiments include a self-locking coupler, a method to couple adjacent tubing sections, and a self-locking coupling assembly. In one embodiment, the self-locking coupler includes a coupling shroud having an external interface proximate to a first end of the coupling shroud and a set of collet fingers that extends from the first end of the coupling shroud. The self-locking coupler also includes a locking sleeve having an internal interface that complements the external interface of the coupling shroud. The locking sleeve is movable from a first position on the external interface to a second position on the external interface. As the locking sleeve moves from the first position to the second position, the locking sleeve compresses the set of collet fingers into a cavity of a first seal ring coupled to a first tubing section to secure the coupling shroud to the first tubing section.

MECHANICALLY ACTUATED TUBULAR DRILLING, REAMING AND RUNNING TOOL WITH SLIP SET CONTROL
20210381320 · 2021-12-09 · ·

An apparatus for transferring torque comprising a pipe handling assembly configured to use fluid pressure to provide torque forces to set or release slips from a pipe. Set down force or other frictional measures on a pipe collar are not required. A method to create reactive torque force comprising a series of gears interconnected with each other through a clutch that can be engaged and disengaged. A link may be provided to a top drive rail via a gripperbox which provides reactive force to stop rotation of a power screw female (threaded nut) to facilitate threading action to set or release slips on pipe. Reactive force may be created using a plurality of axial pistons attached to a moveable half of a hirth coupling. Other friction-creating members (such as, for example, a brake pad material or similar material) may be used to create frictional forcesbetween two surfaces.
