Coiled tubing connector to electrical submersible pump
A connector secures an ESP to coiled tubing containing a power cable. Upper and lower barriers in the connector housing define an upper chamber, a lower chamber, and a center chamber. An upper chamber dielectric fluid in the upper chamber is in fluid communication with the interior of the coiled tubing. A lower chamber dielectric fluid in the lower chamber is in fluid communication with motor lubricant in the motor of the ESP. Center chamber dielectric fluid in the center chamber is sealed from contact with the upper and lower chamber dielectric fluids by the upper and lower barriers. A thermal expansion device has a container portion for allowing center chamber dielectric fluid to expand into the container.
Submersible pump cable connector assembly
A field attachable submersible pump cable connector assembly for an electrical connection in a well head, allowing for direct connector assembly to the ESP cable eliminating the cable to cable splice. The connector assembly permits the use of standard crimping pliers to crimp the ends of a heavy gauge multi-conductor cables typically used for electric submersible pump (ESP) cables to the power pin for connection to an electrical power source external to the well head. The connector assembly protects the crimped connection from contaminants and the corrosive environment within the well head.
Hanger assembly with penetrators
A wellhead assembly has a tubular wellhead body with a wellhead axial bore and a wellhead radial bore. A hanger has a hanger axial bore and a hanger radial port. A tube moving mechanism moves a tube in the wellhead radial bore between a retracted position, an intermediate position and an extended position. The tube has an inner end that is recessed in the wellhead radial bore while in the retracted position, that protrudes a first distance into the wellhead axial bore while in the intermediate position, and which protrudes a second distance into engagement with the hanger radial port while in the extended position. A landing shoulder on the hanger above the radial port lands on an inner portion of the tube while the tube is in the intermediate position.
Adaptor for electronic submersible pump
An adaptor is provided for a system including an electronic submersible pump. The adaptor includes a body including an upper surface and a lower surface opposite the lower surface. The body forms an adaptor passage and a channel. The adaptor passage extends along a vertical axis between the upper surface and the lower surface. The channel extends between the upper surface and the lower surface and is operable to receive a cable coupled with the electronic submersible pump. The channel extends in a direction that forms an angle relative to the vertical axis. The upper surface is operable to receive a valve assembly forming a valve passage that aligns with the adaptor passage.
Tubing Hanger Assembly With Wellbore Access, and Method of Accessing a Wellbore
A tubing hanger assembly for suspending a tubing string within a wellbore is provided. The tubing hanger assembly comprises a tubing head, a tubing hanger and a tubing head adapter. The tubing hanger and the tubing head adapter have aligned through-openings such that a chemical injection line and a communications line may each be passed through respective through-openings, thereby enabling an operator to have access to the wellbore. Beneficially, the assembly also comprises a bottom flange that secures the tubing head adapter to the tubing head once the tubing hanger and connected string of production tubing are landed in the wellbore. The bottom flange may be rotated so that ports in the bottom flange may be aligned with ports in an upper flange in the tubing head. A method for hanging a string of production tubing in a wellbore is also provided herein.
Communication through a hanger and wellhead
A system for communicating through a hanger can include an alignment manifold having upper and lower terminals positioned on opposite respective sides of the alignment manifold, each of the upper terminals being in communication with a respective one of the lower terminals. A downhole line connector can be configured to connect to downhole lines, the downhole line connector including terminals aligned with the lower terminals of the alignment manifold. A method of communicating through a hanger can include connecting an alignment manifold to the hanger, the hanger being configured to suspend a tubular from a wellhead assembly, and connecting a downhole line connector to the alignment manifold.
Method and apparatus for deploying wellbore pump on coiled tubing
A method for deploying a pump in a wellbore includes coupling the pump to an end of a coiled tubing having upper and lower coiled tubing portions interconnected by a releasable tubing connector, and inserting the pump into the wellbore by extending the coiled tubing therein until the releasable tubing connector is disposed in a suspending arrangement proximate a surface of the wellbore. The method includes uncoupling the upper coiled tubing portion from the releasable connector, wherein the releasable connector, lower coiled tubing portion and pump are retained suspended in the wellbore from the suspending arrangement.
Systems and methods for assembling a wellhead
A wellhead system includes a tubing or casing hanger to be installed in a wellhead, the tubing or casing hanger including an outer surface including a landing profile configured to engage a mating landing profile of the wellhead, a landing sensor configured to transmit a signal indicating contact between the landing profile of the tubing or casing hanger and the landing profile of the wellhead, and a processor configured to receive the signal transmitted by the landing sensor.
Subsurface hanger for umbilical deployed electrical submersible pump
A subsurface hanger apparatus for suspending an electrical submersible pump in subsurface tubing of a well includes a spool assembly having: a tubular shaped spool housing, a spool electrical pad, and a spool cable lead extending out of the spool housing. The apparatus also includes a hanger assembly having a cylindrical hanger housing, a hanger electrical pad, a hanger cable lead extending out of the hanger assembly in a direction opposite the spool cable lead, and a cable hanger sub circumscribing the hanger cable lead. The hanger electrical pad is positioned to engage the spool electrical pad when the hanger assembly is landed within, and supported by, the spool assembly.
