Hanger running system and method

A system includes a hanger locking assembly configured to lock a hanger within a housing of a wellhead. The hanger locking assembly includes an energizing ring having one or more axially-extending passageways configured to receive and to support one or more control lines. An anti-rotation element extends between the energizing ring and the hanger to block rotational movement of the energizing ring relative to the hanger. A locking ring is in contact with the energizing ring, and axial movement of the energizing ring relative to the hanger drives the locking ring radially to engaged position in which the locking ring extends into a corresponding recess of the housing of the wellhead to block axial movement of the hanger relative to the wellhead.

Hanger running system and method

A system includes a hanger locking assembly configured to lock a hanger within a housing of a wellhead. The hanger locking assembly includes an energizing ring having one or more axially-extending passageways configured to receive and to support one or more control lines. An anti-rotation element extends between the energizing ring and the hanger to block rotational movement of the energizing ring relative to the hanger. A system includes a rotatable fluid distribution system having a first block and a second block, the first block is configured to receive a supply of pressurized fluid, the second block is configured to distribute the supply of pressurized fluid to one or more actuators of a running tool, a wellhead component, or both, and the first block and the second block are configured to rotate with respect to one another about an axis to adjust which of the one or more actuators of the running tool, the wellhead component, or both, receives the supply of pressurized fluid.

Methods and apparatus for diverting fluids either into or from a well are described. Some embodiments include a diverter conduit that is located in a bore of a tree. The invention relates especially but not exclusively to a diverter assembly connected to a wing branch of a tree. Some embodiments allow diversion of fluids out of a tree to a subsea processing apparatus followed by the return of at least some of these fluids to the tree for recovery. Alternative embodiments provide only one flowpath and do not include the return of any fluids to the tree. Some embodiments can be retro-fitted to existing trees, which can allow the performance of a new function without having to replacing the tree. Multiple diverter assembly embodiments are also described.

A system and method for accessing a well, in certain embodiments, includes a production tree, a cap, and a spool including a longitudinal bore configured to receive a tubing hanger. The tubing hanger includes a longitudinal bore configured to transfer product between the spool and the production tree. At least one adjustable fluid barrier is included in the tubing hanger and/or the cap. The adjustable fluid barrier can be used to open and close the longitudinal passage and allow access through the tubing hanger and/or the cap.

A system and method for accessing a well, in certain embodiments, includes a production tree, a cap, and a spool including a longitudinal bore configured to receive a tubing hanger. The tubing hanger includes a longitudinal bore configured to transfer product between the spool and the production tree. At least one adjustable fluid barrier is included in the tubing hanger and/or the cap. The adjustable fluid barrier can be used to open and close the longitudinal passage and allow access through the tubing hanger and/or the cap.

A hanger system formed to provide sealed passage therethrough for cables, lines, tubes or the like through the wellhead. The preferred embodiment of the invention teaches a unitary or split/wrap around hanger having a main seal formed to receive and provide sealed pass-through of power and control cables, lines, conduits, or other threaded components such as for powering an electric submersible pump (ESP) via electrical cable(s) or the like, while effectively packing off and sealing the well bore. The present invention provides hinged side doors formed to engage and support the cable, line, conduit, etc in the hanger for engaging components threaded therethrough. When the hanger with threaded components is positioned to rest in the bowl of the tubing head, the lower string weight compresses the main seal, providing an effective seal about the threaded components. The present invention teaches permanent as well as temporary applications, and is designed to provide a low to medium pressure seal. Also taught is a bowl cap with compression seal to cover the present system, while providing enhanced, sealed pass-through.
