Packer assembly with slip system

A slip engagable with a slip ring including a head section having an arc length, a tail section having the same arc length, an intermediate section having an arc length shorter than either the head section and the tail section connecting the head section to the tail section, and a lateral wing depending from the intermediate section.

COUPLING MECHANISM

A coupling mechanism is disclosed for coupling a wireless communication device to a locating profile in a wellbore. The coupling mechanism comprises a coupling body arranged for connection to the wireless communication device, and an anchoring unit. The coupling body includes a conical portion with a tapered outer surface. The anchoring unit has a tapered inner surface arranged to oppose the tapered outer surface of the coupling body. The coupling body and the anchoring unit are configured for relative movement to cause the anchoring unit to expand radially to grip the locating profile.

PORT FREE HYDRAULIC UNIBODY SYSTEM AND METHODOLOGY FOR USE IN A WELL

A technique facilitates use of a liner hanger in a borehole. A port free hydraulic unibody system including an outer structure having a tubing hanger portion and a packer portion mounted about a mandrel may be constructed so as to avoid the creation of leak paths. A seal system may be employed between the mandrel and the surrounding outer structure to ensure sealing engagement therebetween. The mandrel has a port free section on the downhole side of the seal system, and this port free section is maintained during, for example, actuation of the tubing hanger portion so as to prevent formation of leak paths. An actuator may be located along the mandrel and may be configured to initiate actuation of hanger slips mounted along the tubing hanger portion. An anti-preset mechanism positioned along the mandrel works in cooperation with the actuator to prevent premature actuation of the hanger slips.

Dissolvable bridge plug assembly

A bridge plug assembly includes a tee bushing including a base and a stem, a coned bushing having a conical section and defining a bore that is configured to receive the stem, a molded assembly that is moveable over the conical section from an initial position to a set position, and a seal. The conical section is configured as a wedge such that when the stem is forced into the conical section during a setting process, the molded assembly and the seal move over the conical section from the initial position to the set position and expand radially outward by a wedge action of the conical section against a well casing. The molded assembly includes a slip assembly having a plurality of slip segments, over-molded with an elastomer. All components are made of dissolvable materials so as to reopen the well casing over time to its original inner diameter.

Method and system for boosting sealing elements of downhole barriers

A downhole barrier can include a housing disposed between a slip and a seal element, a mandrel extending through the housing and the seal element, and a piston fixed to the mandrel and separating two chambers in the housing. One chamber is positioned between the slip and the other chamber, and is in communication with a passage in the mandrel. The other chamber is in communication with an exterior of the barrier. A system can include a downhole barrier set in a wellbore. The barrier can include a housing disposed between a slip and a seal element, a mandrel, and a piston fixed to the mandrel, the piston separating two chambers in the housing. An outer area of the mandrel in one chamber is equal to twice a difference between an inner area of the housing and an outer area of the mandrel in the other chamber.

High strength connection for composite sleeve and composite mandrel and related methods

A composite downhole tool, such as a frac plug or a bridge plug, having a composite sleeve located around a composite mandrel and defining an overlapping or overlapped section between the two. One or more shear pins with each shear pin having a pin hole is provided with the downhole tool to reinforce the downhole tool from interlaminate shear. The one or more shear pins can further be reinforced from rotation by overlapping at least part of the one or more pins with a lip of a ring.

Roll-out apparatus, method, and system

A roll-out apparatus, method, and system is disclosed for deployment in a subterranean well at a setting location. The roll-out apparatus, method, and system includes a load ring and an energizing ring. The load ring may include an outer surface having an outer circumference and a slot extending through the entire wall thickness that follows a circuitous path from a front face to a back face of the load ring. The energizing ring includes an outer surface configured to contact an inner surface of the load ring to enlarge the outer circumference of the load ring in a radial direction. This causes the outer surface of the load ring to seal to an inner surface of the subterranean well at the setting location.

CONE FOR A DOWNHOLE TOOL

A downhole tool for use in a wellbore includes a cone, a cone adapter at least partially disposed in the cone, a shoe member, and a slip assembly disposed between the cone and the shoe member. A mandrel extends through the cone adapter and attached to the shoe member. The cone adapter is retrievable with the mandrel.

Frac plug with collapsible plug body having integral wedge and slip elements

A frac plug apparatus has a plug body that comprises a central bore and separable elements. The central bore extends axially through the plug body. The separable elements are joined by relatively weak bridging portions adapted to break in a controlled manner, the separable elements thereby forming an integral component comprised of the separable elements. The separable elements comprise a wedge element and an array of slip elements. The slip elements are joined to the wedge element by first bridging portions.
