Downhole pump and method for producing well fluids
A method of producing fluid from a wellbore includes operating a pump located proximate to a zone of fluid influx in the wellbore to draw a fluid from a reservoir into the wellbore at the zone of fluid influx. A first section of a tubing string is coupled to, and extends above, the pump, and a second section of the tubing string is coupled to, and extends below, the pump. A packer seals a first annular space around the first section of the tubing string. The method further includes operating the pump to move the fluid from the second section of the tubing string and into the first section of the tubing string.
ACID FRACTURING WITH DISSOLVABLE PLUGS
Acid stimulation operations in a wellbore may be conducted using frac plugs constructed of a hydrolytically degradable polymer. The frac plugs may be constructed of an aliphatic polyester such as PGA and may be readily pumped into position in the wellbore due in part to their relatively low density. Once perforations have been created in the wellbore and a first frac plug is set in place, an acid solution may be pumped at a high-pressure acid against the frac plug and into the geologic formation. A second and/or any number of subsequent frac plugs may be pumped behind the acid, e.g., in brine solution, to be used in subsequent acid stimulation operations. After completing acid stimulation operations, the frac plugs may degrade in the wellbore to permit production within two weeks.
DOWNHOLE ASSEMBLY FOR SELECTIVELY SEALING OFF A WELLBORE
Downhole assemblies and methods for isolating a wellbore. A downhole tool can include a body having a bore or flowpath formed therethrough, and one or more sealing members disposed therein. The one or more sealing members can include an annular base and a curved surface having an upper face and a lower face, wherein one or more first radii define the upper face, and one or more second radii define the lower face, and wherein, at any point on the curved surface, the first radius is greater than the second radius. The sealing members can be disposed within the bore of the tool using one or more annular sealing devices disposed about the one or more sealing members.
Dissolvable Expendable Guns for Plug-And-Perf Applications
A wellbore system for perforating a subterranean formation including a dissolvable perforating gun that may be wirelessly operated to fire at a predetermined wellbore location and thereafter fragmented and dissolved with wellbore fluids. The perforating gun may take the form of a strip gun with an elongated rod or other charge holder carrying a plurality of exposed perforating charges thereon. The exposed shaped charges may each be equipped with an individual charge cover or filler material disposed over a liner that forms a jet when the shaped charge is detonated. A wiper to facilitate pumping the perforating gun through the wellbore and may include an initiator for detecting a signal or condition indicative of the perforating gun having reached a predetermined location to cause the perforating gun to fire.
Self-inflating high expansion seal
Embodiments described herein provide a downhole tool (e.g., a retrievable bridge plug) that includes a sealing device and a load retention/equalization mechanism. The sealing device includes an elastomer seal component and an expansion device configured to radially expand outwardly to compress the elastomer seal component against a wellbore casing within which the downhole tool is located. The sealing device further includes lower and upper support barriers configured to radially expand outwardly against the wellbore. The sealing device also includes a seal energizing spring configured to maintain an initial setting force of the elastomer seal component against the wellbore casing. The load retention/equalization mechanism includes a spool/inflation valve configured to direct fluid into an internal volume to inflate the elastomer seal component radially outwardly based on a differential pressure between a first volume uphole relative to the downhole tool and a second volume downhole relative to the downhole tool.
Methods and systems for fracing and casing pressuring
A frac plug with a flapper positioned within a shearable housing. More specifically, embodiments are directed towards an upper portion of the shearable housing that is configured to be separated from an insert responsive to flowing back through the frac plug.
Downhole apparatus
A downhole apparatus comprises a housing, a seat mounted in the housing and configured to receive an object such that the object may engage and axially move the seat to operate the downhole apparatus, and a moveable barrier located on one axial side of the seat such that when an object is engaged with the seat a volume is defined between the object and the moveable barrier, wherein the moveable barrier permits said volume to be moved within the apparatus to allow the object to axially move the seat.
DISSOLVABLE SETTING TOOL FOR HYDRAULIC FRACTURING OPERATIONS
A system for deploying an untethered dissolvable frac package for use in a hydraulic fracturing operation includes a dissolvable or degradable frac package with a dissolvable or degradable setting tool. The setting tool of the dissolvable frac package is configured to deploy a dissolvable frac plug at a predetermined position along the wellbore string and dissolve over time in the wellbore.
DOWNHOLE TOOL WITH DELAY VALVE
A downhole tool includes a housing defining an axial bore. The downhole tool also includes a piston positioned at least partially within the housing. The piston is configured to actuate from a first piston position into a second piston position at least partially in response to a pressure differential. The downhole tool also includes a locking mechanism positioned at least partially within the housing. The locking mechanism is configured to actuate from a first locking mechanism position into a second locking mechanism position at least partially in response to the pressure differential while the piston is in the second piston position. The downhole tool also includes a disk positioned at least partially within the housing. The disk prevents fluid flow through the axial bore. The disk is configured to break at least partially in response to the pressure differential while the locking mechanism is in the second locking mechanism position.
ELECTRIC SUBMERSIBLE PUMPING SYSTEM BLANKING PLUG WITH FLAPPER VALVE MECHANISM
A blanking plug for isolating the wellbore of a fluid-producing well during operation of an electric submersible pump is provided with a sand trap positioned at the upper end of the plug. The sand trap is in the form of a flapper valve mechanism and includes a particulate accumulation chamber.
