SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING HYDROCARBON MATERIAL FROM OR INJECTING FLUID INTO A SUBTERRANEAN FORMATION USING ADJUSTABLE FLOW RESTRICTION
A valve assembly for integration within a wellbore string disposed within a subterranean reservoir is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing having one or more injection ports for establishing fluid communication between a central passage and the reservoir. The valve assembly includes a valve sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing and comprising a fluid channel adapted to establish fluid communication between the central passage and the injection ports, and configured to create a fluid flowrate restriction. The valve assembly has a flow adjuster connectable to the valve sleeve, and is selectively arranged to align an opening with the fluid channel and allow fluid to flow from the fluid channel through the opening to the injection port, wherein connecting the flow adjuster to the valve sleeve defines a flow length of the fluid channel to adjust the fluid restriction created by the fluid channel.
Systems and methods for bonding a downhole tool to a surface within the borehole
An assembly for use in a downhole tool. The assembly may include a body that includes a chamber with a solder suspension contained therein, the solder suspension comprising solder particles, each solder particle comprising an outer shell and a liquid metal core that is exposed and solidifies upon rupture of the outer shell. The assembly may also include a port that allows fluid flow between the chamber and an area outside of the chamber. The assembly may further include a plunger actuatable to apply a force to create a pressure to the solder suspension within the chamber to eject the solder suspension from the port at a velocity to rupture the outer shells of the particles upon contact with a surface.
Piston initiator for sidetrack assembly
A piston initiator is used on an assembly having a milling tool and a whipstock for creating a sidetrack in a wellbore. A piston disposed in an uphole position in a bore of the milling tool seals the bore from communicating with the port. A line from the port can communicate pressure to components on the whipstock for initiating their activation. The piston is movable from the uphole position, but is held by a releasable connection configured to release the piston in response to a predetermined force from fluid flow in a downhole direction against an exposed surface area of the piston. An uphole shoulder in the milling tool prevents movement of the piston in an uphole direction so the piston does not stress the releasable connection in response to reverse fluid flow through the milling tool.
Fracturing method and depressurizing device used for same
A fracturing method, to cause a crack in bedrock, includes installing a depressurizing device in a well in the bedrock, and depressurizing the inside of the well with the installed depressurizing device. The installing step includes installing, in the well, a connecting pipe, which is connected to the depressurizing device, and a packer, which is attached to the connecting pipe, and the depressurizing step includes shutting off a gap between the well and the connecting pipe, with the packer, and depressurizing a region in the well below the packer, with the depressurizing device.
Well tool device for opening and closing a fluid bore in a well
A well tool device includes a housing having an axial through bore; a sleeve section releasably connected to the housing in the axial through bore, wherein the sleeve section comprises an axial bore; a frangible disc provided in the axial bore of the sleeve section in sealing engagement with the sleeve section. The sleeve section is axially displaceable within the axial through bore between a first position and a second position. The well tool device includes a first supporting sleeve fixed to the housing in the axial through bore and a second supporting sleeve provided radially inside of, and releasably connected to, the first supporting sleeve. The first supporting sleeve includes an upwardly facing surface configured to support a lower end of the sleeve section when the sleeve section is in the second position.
Electronic initiator sleeves and methods of use
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for performing wellbore completion and production operations in a subterranean formation are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include: disposing an electronic initiator sleeve within a closed wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation, wherein the electronic initiator sleeve comprises: a housing having at least one port, a sleeve in a closed position, an actuator, and at least one sensor; increasing fluid pressure within the closed wellbore for a period of time, wherein the sleeve remains in the closed position during the period of time; detecting a signal with the at least one sensor; and actuating the actuator in response to the signal to transition the sleeve from the closed position to an open position.
Off bottom cementing system
A method includes setting a tubular above a bottom of the well. The tubular having a float shoe attached to a distal end of the tubular and a controllable port penetrating a wall of the float shoe. The method further includes isolating a section of the annulus, opening the controllable port, and pumping cement through the controllable port into the section of the annulus to cement the annulus of the well.
Systems and Methods for Bonding a Downhole Tool to a Surface within the Borehole
An assembly for use in a downhole tool. The assembly may include a body that includes a chamber with a solder suspension contained therein, the solder suspension comprising solder particles, each solder particle comprising an outer shell and a liquid metal core that is exposed and solidifies upon rupture of the outer shell. The assembly may also include a port that allows fluid flow between the chamber and an area outside of the chamber. The assembly may further include a plunger actuatable to apply a force to create a pressure to the solder suspension within the chamber to eject the solder suspension from the port at a velocity to rupture the outer shells of the particles upon contact with a surface.
Downhole Sleeve Tool
A downhole sleeve tool is provided that includes a lower sub defining a bore and one or more sleeve ports therethrough. There is a piston valve movably positionable within the lower sub to selectively block communication between the bore and the one or more sleeve ports. There is an upper sub connectable to the lower sub and sharing another bore therewith. The upper sub has an inlet port, one or more communication ports, and an outlet port. There is an at least one cartridge assembly disposed in a cartridge bore formed in a wall of the upper sub.
BALL VALVES, METHODS TO CLOSE A BALL VALVE, AND METHODS TO FORM A WELL BARRIER
Ball valves, methods to close a ball valve, and methods to form a well barrier are discussed. A ball valve includes a valve housing and a ball that is rotatably movable from an open position to a closed position. The ball valve also includes an actuation mechanism operable to rotate the ball from the open position to the closed position, where a fluid passage of the ball is not aligned with a fluid passage of the valve housing while the ball is in the closed position. The ball valve further includes a sleeve disposed in the valve housing and operable to shift from a first position to a second position to actuate the actuation mechanism.
