Assembly and method for performing aligned operation with tool oriented in downhole tubular
To perform an aligned operation downhole, a tubular disposed downhole has an internal bore with a first inner circumference and has a target at a first radial orientation. A locator profile is defined about the internal bore at a first location, and an internal nipple is defined about the internal bore at a second location. The internal nipple has a second inner circumference less than the first of the internal bore. An orientation slot is defined longitudinally across the internal nipple and is disposed at a second radial orientation configured relative to the first radial orientation of the target. A tool is deployable into the internal bore. The tool has a locator to engage in the locator profile and has an orientation key to engage in the slot and align an operational component for the aligned operation with the target.

SURFACE CONTROLLED WIRELINE RETRIEVABLE SAFETY VALVE
A surface-controlled wireline-retrievable safety valve includes a seat housing having a plurality of flow ports that is configured to house a hard seat. A closure device has a plurality of equalization ports, is disposed within the seat housing, and is configured to controllably move off the hard seat and expose the plurality of flow ports to a central lumen of the safety valve under hydraulic actuation. A power piston having a shoulder portion includes a top end that is attached to the closure device and the shoulder portion is disposed within a hydraulic chamber housing forming a differential area. A hydraulic actuation port may be configured to receive hydraulic actuation fluid from a surface pump. A hydraulic passage may be configured to convey the hydraulic actuation fluid from the hydraulic actuation port to the differential area via a hydraulic access port.
Bypass diverter sub for subsurface safety valves
A bypass diverter sub including a housing defining a flow passage, a control line bypass piston arranged within a control line bypass bore defined in a wall of the housing, and a balance line bypass piston arranged within a balance line bypass bore defined in the wall. An outer magnet is disposed within a magnet chamber and is operatively coupled to the control and balance line bypass. A flow tube profile is positioned within the flow passage and provides an inner magnet magnetically coupled to the outer. The flow tube profile is movable between a first position, where control line and balance line pressures circulate through the bypass diverter sub to a subsurface safety valve, and a second position, where the control line pressure is diverted into the flow passage and the balance line pressure is diverted into a balance line jumper conduit.
Mechanisms for transferring hydraulic control from a primary safety valve to a secondary safety valve
Wellbore systems containing a hydraulically regulated primary safety valve may have their hydraulic regulation transferred to an insert safety valve disposed in a nipple. Such wellbore systems may comprise: a tubing string comprising a nipple and a primary safety valve, the primary safety valve being disposed in the tubing string below the nipple; and a control line and a balance line in hydraulic communication with the primary safety valve and in latent hydraulic communication with one or more switching mechanisms in the nipple. The one or more switching mechanisms in the nipple are actuatable to shut off hydraulic communication of the control line and the balance line below the nipple and to redirect, via one or more latent hydraulic lines, the hydraulic communication of the control line and the balance line to an insert safety valve positioned in a bore of the nipple.
Provision of internal lines in a well tool
A well tool can include a closure member having open and closed positions, a seat having a flow passage blocked by the closure member in the closed position, and a line extending through the seat. A communication method can include positioning a conduit in an interior of a well tool, and conducting a signal via the conduit between annular structures surrounding a longitudinal flow passage of the well tool. A well system can include a well tool connected in a tubular string, a flow passage of the tubular string extending through the well tool, the well tool including a closure member having open and closed positions, in which the closure member respectively permits and blocks flow through the flow passage, an annular cavity surrounding the flow passage, and a line, the closure member and the line being positioned in the annular cavity in the open position.
Insert safety valve system
An insert safety valve system includes a valve body including a valve member. The valve body includes a central passage and a flow path arranged radially outwardly of the central passage. A release sub is coupled to the valve body. The release sub is configured and disposed to support a downhole tool. A connector member selectively couples the release sub and the valve body.

A tubing pressure insensitive failsafe wireline retrievable safety valve including a tool housing, a flow tube disposed within the tool housing, an actuation piston disposed in the tool housing and operably connected to the flow tube, the actuation piston having an actuation pressure side and a relatively lower pressure chamber side, a fluid pathway between a potential leak site for the valve and the relatively lower pressure chamber side of the piston. A borehole system having a tubing pressure insensitive failsafe wireline retrievable safety valve. A tubing pressure insensitive failsafe wireline retrievable safety valve.
Hydraulic control of downhole tools
A well tool apparatus comprises a control arrangement configured to control response of the downhole tool by varying a bore-annulus pressure difference. The control arrangement includes a valve piston longitudinally slidable in a generally tubular controller housing that is in operation substantially co-axial with the wellbore, to open or close a valve port to a fluid flow connection between the drill strings interior and the tool. A latch mechanism is configured to latch the valve piston against movement in one axial direction, keeping the valve piston in an open or a closed condition. Unlatching of the valve piston requires displacement thereof in the other axial direction to a mode change position. A stay member is automatically displaceable under hydraulic actuation responsive to bore-annulus pressure differences above a trigger threshold value, to obstruct movement of the latched valve piston under hydraulic actuation to the mode change position.
