11454096 · 2022-09-27 · ·

The present disclosure relates generally to downhole tubulars, and more particularly, to tubular expanders for downhole tubulars that have a detachable expansion ring, which can be detached from the tubular expander in the event that full expansion cannot be achieved or the tubular expander should get stuck in the downhole tubular being expanded. The detachable expansion ring may be attached to an end of an expansion cone that is disposed within a main body of the tubular expander. Tubing hangers are one exemplary downhole tubular device which can be expanded using the tubular expander in accordance with the present invention.

Liner hanger with hardened anchoring ridges

The device may comprise a radially expandable tubular defining an interior passageway and an exterior surface. The device may further comprise an axial load bearing assembly positioned on the exterior surface of the expandable tubular and having an anchoring sub-assembly for engaging the downhole tubular and bearing axial loads placed on the downhole tool, the anchoring sub-assembly having a plurality of radially extending ridges, each ridge having a hardened anchoring surface and corners, for penetrating into the downhole tubular and a plurality of longitudinally extending milled grooves formed in each ridge, and a sealing sub-assembly for, after the radial expansion, engaging the downhole tubular and sealing the annulus defined between the downhole tubular and the radially expandable downhole tool.

Expansion system

A method of expanding a tubular member by assembling an expansion system having an expansion cone and an expansion sleeve and coupling a tubular member to the expansion system so that the expansion sleeve is at least partially disposed within the tubular member. The expansion system and tubular member are then disposed in a wellbore and the expansion cone is translated relative to the expansion sleeve and tubular member so as to radially expand the tubular member into engagement with the wellbore and the expansion system is removed from the wellbore. The tubular member is expanded to an inside diameter equal to an expansion diameter of the expansion cone plus twice a thickness of the expansion sleeve.

Bias fabric reinforced ELH element material for improved anchoring

The present disclosure relates generally to equipment utilized and operations performed in conjunction with a subterranean well and, more particularly, to an improved liner hanger system. A downhole expandable liner hanger positioned in a subterranean wellbore may comprise a liner. The downhole expandable liner hanger may further comprise an expansion element. The expansion element may comprise one or more annular seals bonded to the expansion element, a first spike; and a second spike. The downhole expandable liner hanger may further comprise a woven mesh, wherein the woven mesh is disposed around the expansion element between the first spike and the second spike, wherein the woven mesh comprises a first material layer and a second material layer.

Downhole tool with a propellant charge

A method of removing material from a target is described. The method comprises the steps of providing a tool, the tool having at least one propellant source; pressurising the tool to a pressure higher than the environmental pressure; igniting at least one of the propellant source(s) to form a combustion zone; and directing combustion products generated at the combustion zone along at least one tool flow path. The tool flow path(s) is selectively openable or closable, such that upon exiting the tool flow path(s) the combustion products interact with a target, the interaction causing material to be removed from the target.

EXPANSION TOOL ASSEMBLY FOR EXPANDABLE TUBULAR

Disclosed are an expansion tool assembly, comprising: an expandable tubular; a guide shoe partially inserted into and connected to the lower end of the expandable tubular; a sealing sleeve arranged in the expandable tubular and connected to the upper end of the guide shoe; an expansion assembly comprising an expansion cone and expansion seat disposed inside the expandable tubular, wherein the lower end of the expansion seat is connected with hooks, which can be rested on the upper end of the sealing sleeve; an upper joint that is connected to the upper end of the expansion seat and can be connected to a drill string. A force transfer path can be established via connection between the expansion seat and sealing sleeve, so that expandable tubular weight is borne on the drill string. Unintentional expansion of the expandable tubular, caused by interaction between expandable tubular and expansion cone, can be avoided.

LOST CIRCULATION FABRIC, METHOD, AND DEPLOYMENT SYSTEMS

A lost circulation system and a method for reducing losses of drilling fluid in a lost circulation zone of a wellbore are described. The lost circulation system includes a sheet of lost circulation material and particles of a lost circulation material. The sheet of lost circulation material has a maximum thickness of 1 millimeter, a length of one foot to one thousand feet, and a width of one inch to twenty inches. The method for reducing losses of drilling fluid in a lost circulation zone of a wellbore includes identifying the lost circulation zone, deploying a sheet of a first lost circulation material in the wellbore at the lost circulation zone, and circulating a slurry containing particles of the lost circulation material through the wellbore.

LOST CIRCULATION FABRIC, METHOD, AND DEPLOYMENT SYSTEMS

A lost circulation system and a method for reducing losses of drilling fluid in a lost circulation zone of a wellbore are described. The lost circulation system includes a sheet of lost circulation fabric and particles of a second lost circulation material. The sheet of lost circulation fabric is a material whose structure and composition limit the flow of fluids, particularly drilling fluid, through the sheet. The sheet of lost circulation material has a maximum thickness of 1 millimeter, a length of one foot to one thousand feet, and a width of one inch to twenty inches. The sheet of the lost circulation fabric has holes extending through the sheet.

LOST CIRCULATION FABRIC, METHOD, AND DEPLOYMENT SYSTEMS

A wellbore loss zone remediation method to reduce losses of drilling fluid in a lost circulation zone of a wellbore is described. The wellbore loss zone remediation method includes identifying a lost circulation zone in a wellbore, selecting a lost circulation fabric, selecting a lost circulation material for a slurry, disposing the lost circulation fabric in the wellbore, circulating the slurry in the wellbore, and determining if the lost circulation zone is remediated.
