FULLY SUPPORTED C-RING SLIP RETENTION SYSTEM
20170226815 · 2017-08-10 ·

In accordance with the present disclosure, an improved c-ring slip retention system and method for extraction of the c-ring slip are provided. The c-ring slip retention system may use an axially movable support sleeve with a support ring for securing the c-ring slip against a retention lip of the liner hanger body. The disclosed retention system prevents the c-ring slip from being prematurely extracted from a liner hanger body while the liner hanger is lowered through a borehole. The c-ring slip retention system may also include anti-rotation features that prevent the c-ring slip from rotating relative to the liner hanger body. A single actuation of the support sleeve in an axial direction may unlock the c-ring slip from the retention lip, disengage the anti-rotation features, compress the c-ring slip out of the keyed profile, and extract the c-ring slip from the liner hanger body.

DOWNHOLE CONFORMABLE SCREEN SYSTEM AND METHOD OF MAKING A CONFORMABLE SCREEN FOR DOWNHOLE USE
20220034203 · 2022-02-03 · ·

A system of a downhole conformable screen system including a tubular, and a screen defined by a plurality of screen segments positioned radially outward of the tubular, each of the plurality of screen segments being positioned perimetrically between two other of the screen segments, the screen being configured to expand radially to engage with an inner surface of a wellbore after the tubular and screen have been positioned within the wellbore. A method of making a conformable screen for downhole use including forming a plurality of screen segments out of a porous foam, and attaching the plurality of screen segments to a tubular to form a screen around the tubular.

Downhole apparatus, device, assembly and method

The invention relates to a wellbore-lining tubing comprising at least one window pre-formed in the wall of the tubing and a device for selectively generating a fluid pressure pulse, and to a method of forming a lateral wellbore employing such a tubing. In an embodiment, a wellbore-lining tubing (130m) is disclosed which comprises: a tubing wall (32m), an internal fluid flow passage (30m), and at least one window (154m) pre-formed in the wall of the tubing; a device (34m) for selectively generating a fluid pressure pulse, the device located at least partly in a space (36m) provided in the wall of the tubing; and a coupling (190) for receiving a deflection tool (192) so that the deflection tool can be secured to the tubing and employed to divert a downhole component (202) through the window in the tubing wall.

Screen packer assembly

Disclosed is a screen packer assembly for use in filtering hydrocarbons in a wellbore at a subterranean location. The screen-packer assembly connects in a production tubing string and packs off the wellbore and provides an axial filter path for hydrocarbons through the assembly and into the productions tubing.

Expansion system

A method of expanding a tubular member by assembling an expansion system having an expansion cone and an expansion sleeve and coupling a tubular member to the expansion system so that the expansion sleeve is at least partially disposed within the tubular member. The expansion system and tubular member are then disposed in a wellbore and the expansion cone is translated relative to the expansion sleeve and tubular member so as to radially expand the tubular member into engagement with the wellbore and the expansion system is removed from the wellbore. The tubular member is expanded to an inside diameter equal to an expansion diameter of the expansion cone plus twice a thickness of the expansion sleeve.

Bias fabric reinforced ELH element material for improved anchoring

The present disclosure relates generally to equipment utilized and operations performed in conjunction with a subterranean well and, more particularly, to an improved liner hanger system. A downhole expandable liner hanger positioned in a subterranean wellbore may comprise a liner. The downhole expandable liner hanger may further comprise an expansion element. The expansion element may comprise one or more annular seals bonded to the expansion element, a first spike; and a second spike. The downhole expandable liner hanger may further comprise a woven mesh, wherein the woven mesh is disposed around the expansion element between the first spike and the second spike, wherein the woven mesh comprises a first material layer and a second material layer.

Diamond-like-carbon based friction reducing tapes

A multi-layer friction reducing tape, including: a foil layer including a metal, polymer, or hybrid-metal-polymer; an under layer disposed on the foil layer; an adhesion promoting layer contiguous with a surface of the under layer; a functional layer that includes a fullerene based composite, a diamond based material, diamond-like-carbon (DLC), or combinations thereof, wherein the functional layer is contiguous with a surface of the adhesion promoting layer; and a tape, including an adhesive layer and a backing material, wherein the adhesive layer is attached to a surface of the foil layer opposite the under layer.

Remotely-activated liner hanger and running tool

A downhole tool for applying a force to a component in a borehole penetrating a subsurface formation includes an acoustic transducer configured to receive an acoustic signal. The tool also includes a spring having a spring force, a spring force retention device defining a perimeter having a gap and in mechanical communication with the component where the spring force retention device being configured to retain the spring force, and a gap member configured to be disposed in the gap. The tool further includes a force generator coupled to the gap member and in operable communication with the acoustic receiver and configured to operate in response to receiving the acoustic signal to withdraw the gap member from the gap to cause the spring force retention device to release the spring force thereby applying the spring force to the component.

Expandable Liner Hanger

An expandable liner hanger includes an anchoring element having multiple circumferential ridges that include flow relief grooves which prevent buildup of hydrostatic pressure between the liner hanger and well casing during expansion of the liner hanger. Upon liner hanger expansion the ridges come in high interference with wellbore casing and couple the liner hanger to the wellbore casing. According to another embodiment of the invention, the ridges are formed by a spiral ridge extending along an outer periphery of the hanger thus providing a pressure relief passage for the fluid.
