System And Method For a Pump Controller
A method for characterizing a well for control of a pump, comprising inputting well parameters, into a processor and generating from the input well parameters a well profile, the well profile having a plurality of statistically derived values, each said statistical value corresponding to respective operating points of the pump operational data, and each of the plurality of statistical values being derived from respective statistical analyses taken at the respective operating points, each of the plurality of statistical values being based on a respective analysis of a plurality of sampled well head data at a common point of the operating points.
Artificial lift system and method
An artificial lift system for a horizontal well deploys a downhole pump and flexible bladder reservoir chamber to be used with a conventional rod pump. The rod pump is used in the vertical at the top of the curve. The flexible bladder reservoir chamber is connected to the rod pump intake. The downhole pump is set in the producing formation and is connected to the reservoir chamber by tubing. The lift system uses a compressor drive system to operate the downhole pump to move fluids from the producing formation to the reservoir chamber. The reservoir chamber uses the flexible chamber bladder that is filled with well fluids by operation of the downhole pump to provide a continuous supply of well fluids to the rod pump intake. Operation of the rod pump lifts fluids from the flexible chamber bladder without regard to the operation state of the downhole pump.
Elongated flow stopper in standing valve of bottom hole spring assembly for facilitating production of hydrocarbons
A flow stopper for a standing valve within a bottom hole spring assembly for facilitating production of hydrocarbons has an elongated shape. The elongated shape has a concave section such that the flow stopper can impact a line running along an inner surface of the housing in a lengthwise direction of the tubular cavity. The concave section allows the flow stopper to impact the housing with a first point of contact and a second point of contact on the line, and the two points of contact are separated by a gap where the flow stopper does not contact the housing. The flow stopper may include a first and a second ball where the balls are connected by a stem. The flow stopper may also include a plurality of balls that are not connected to each other. The flow stopper may include a ball connected to a stem.
LUBRICATING ELEMENT FOR DRAG REDUCTION IN PRODUCTION AND TRANSPORTATION OF WATER-CUT HEAVY OIL IN WELLBORE
A lubricating element for drag reduction in production and transportation of water-cut heavy oil in a wellbore comprises a flow guide component and a shell component; the flow guide component is fixed in a cyclone chamber of the shell component, and is provided with an intermediate rod to connect and fix a center cone, a flow stabilizing cone and flow guide blades. The lubricating element is a static element integrating three functions of oil-water separation, water control and liquid ring formation, thereby reducing energy consumption for production and transportation of heavy crude oil, and cutting down surface water treatment facilities.
Hybrid artificial lift system and method
An improved CT-based artificial lift system illustrates multiple novel aspects, each of which offers reduced installation cost and/or reduced rates of wear and performance degradation. One such aspect arises in a first illustrative well embodiment that includes: a pump tubular that separates an annular conduit from a central bore conduit, with one of the annular conduit and the central bore conduit serving as a lift conduit and the other of the annular conduit and the central bore conduit serving as a gas injection conduit, and with the pump tubular having at least one port for gas to flow from the gas injection conduit to the lift conduit; a downhole pump having a plunger that is driven by reciprocating motion of the pump tubular to force a liquid flow into the lift conduit, the liquid flow receiving lift gas from the at least one port; and a gas control unit that supplies the gas to the gas injection conduit.
Downhole pump sand filtering snares
Disclosed is a plunger for use in a sucker-rod pumping system. The plunger reciprocates within a barrel. The plunger comprises first, second, and third sections, in which the first and third sections are sealed against the barrel and in which a second section is between the first and third sections and in some embodiments may be a pull tube. A through passage for production fluid is provided, along with a pressure balancing chamber that is connected to the through passage via a sand snare, where the pressure balancing chamber is operable to equalize pressure on longitudinal sides of the seals, whereas the sand snare operates to restrain solids from reaching the pressure balancing chamber from the through passage (which is carrying the production fluid) and thereby create a slippage flow in the pressure balancing chamber, which equalizes pressure between the balancing chamber and the plunger's through passage. Further disclosed in embodiments a port between the second section and the first or third sections, where the port allows in one passage production fluid to pass through it between sections and in another passage or chamber allows slippage fluid to pass through it between sections.
Foldable walking beam for sucker rod pumping systems
A two-piece coupling walking beam is foldable and separable for sucker rod pumping system shipment, storage, installation, or servicing. It provides a two-piece coupling walking beam using connection plates—a pin plate, a fastening plate, and/or strengthening plate(s) for sucker rod pumping systems. A foldable walking beam with a two-piece coupling beam has a connection joint by which the portion with a horsehead located in the front end of the beam for sucker rod pumping systems wherein the walking beam can be folded either transversely (horizontally or sideways) or longitudinally (vertically) to the other portion of the beam without a horsehead to provide working space for system maintenance, installation/reinstallation, or servicing.
Rod jack apparatus
The present invention is a rod jack apparatus with four vertical legs that form a framework and first and second lower brackets connected to the vertical legs. Two hydraulic cylinders extend upwardly from the lower brackets, pass through a first horizontal plate, and are connected to a second horizontal plate. A primary clamping mechanism is situated on top of each of the two horizontal plates, and a secondary clamping mechanism is attached to the underside of each horizontal plate. The apparatus is configured to received a polished rod, and the primary and secondary clamping mechanisms are configured to grip the polished rod when activated. The sucker rod assembly is lifted out of the well when the first and second hydraulic cylinders are extended. The invention includes a method of using the apparatus described herein.
Pump jack with counterbalance
A pump jack with counterbalance system is provided, including a supporting structure, a linear actuator with a housing and a shaft, a first pulley carried by the shaft, a second pulley fixed above the first pulley, an elongate flexible member, and a weight cared by the shaft. The housing is vertically oriented and mounted to the supporting structure above a ground surface. The shaft has a first end received within the housing and a connection end that extends out of the housing and carries the first pulley and the weight. The linear actuator drives the shaft between extended and retracted positions. The elongate member passes around the pulleys and has a first end fixed relative to the housing and a second end connected to a surface rod, such that reciprocating movement of the shaft causes the surface rod to move vertically and the weight to act as a mechanical counterbalance.
