DOWNHOLE SEPARATION FOR WELL PRODUCTION OPERATIONS

A downhole fluid separation apparatus can include multiple sections connected together with connectors, the connectors providing fluid communication between annuli in adjacent ones of the sections, and between inner conduits in adjacent ones of the sections. Each connector can include at least one flow passage providing communication between an inner conduit of each of the connected sections, and another flow passage providing communication between an annulus of each of the connected sections. A bypass valve can be included that opens in response to a predetermined differential pressure between an exterior of the apparatus and the inner conduits.

Calculating downhole pump card with iterations on dual damping factors

A pump apparatus has a downhole pump disposed in a wellbore and has a motor at the surface, and a rod string operatively moved by the motor reciprocates the downhole pump in the wellbore. Downhole data indicative of load and position of the downhole pump is generated using surface measurements and a wave equation model having an upstroke damping factor and a downstroke damping factor. Actual fluid load lines are determined from the downhole data for upstrokes and downstrokes of the downhole pump, and calculated fluid load lines for from the strokes are determined from the distribution of the load values in the downhole data. The actual fluid load lines are compared to the calculated fluid load lines to determine if the downhole card is over or under-damped. Then, at least one of the upstroke or downstroke damping factors of the wave equation model is adjusted so that new downhole data can be generated with appropriate damping.

There are several methods to propel moving force points on a pumping unit. One of the embodiments is propulsion utilizing permanent magnets. This invention can aid the several methods and provides the push start that allows initiating permanent magnet propulsion. This invention relates to an end return device for assisting positioning drives to actuate the continuous movement by mechanical means of moving force points to a desired advantageous position at a desired advantageous moment to achieve reduced net torque when lifting or lowering an unbalanced load with a beam with a fulcrum and connected to a load and an effort. In one embodiment, a walking beam well pumping unit, the lifting and lowering of the well load can be caused by the reciprocating motion of a beam tipping on a fulcrum and with moving effort force point, moving crank shaft force point, and moving beam weight force point.

Fluid and Gas Separator

A method of separating gas from a fluid mixture in a production stream of a well where the method includes using an outer tube and an inner tube positioned concentrically with the outer tube to separate gas and liquid from a mixture. The production stream is directed through the outer tube and into a space between a well casing of the well and the outer tube where gas in the production stream can separate from fluid in the production stream. The separated fluid is then directed through the inner tube to a pump.
