DRAINAGE DEVICE COMPRISING A FILTER CLEANING DEVICE
20210308434 · 2021-10-07 ·

The present invention relates to a filtering device for removing particles from a bodily fluid of a patient, the filtering device being implantable in the patient's body. The device has a tube forming a main fluid passageway for bodily fluid, through which the bodily fluid of the patient passes when the tube is implanted in the patient, a filter connected to the tube and a filter cleaning device for cleaning the filter by moving particles collected by the filter out of the fluid passageway, wherein the filter cleaning device is adapted to replace the first filter in the fluid passageway with a second filter, thereby moving the particles collected by the first filter out of the fluid passageway.

CEREBROSPINAL FLUID PURIFICATION SYSTEM

The present invention provides methods and systems for conditioning cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) by removing target compounds from CSF. The systems provide for a catheter flow path and exchange of a majority volume portion of CSF in the CSF space. The removal and/or delivery of specific compounds can be tailored to the pathology of the specific disease. The removal is targeted and specific, for example, through the use of specific size-exclusion thresholds, antibodies against specific toxins, and other chromatographic techniques, as well as delivery and/or removal of targeted therapeutic agents.

COGNITIVE FUNCTION WITHIN A HUMAN BRAIN

Methods and apparatus for improving cognitive function within a human. The invention utilizes an implanted device, such as an implantable signal generator or an implantable pump, to affect tissue elements within a Papez circuit of the human brain as well as tissue upstream or downstream from the Papez circuit. The implanted device delivers treatment therapy to thereby improve cognitive function by the human. A sensor may be used to detect various symptoms of the cognitive disorder. A microprocessor algorithm may then analyze the output from the sensor to regulate delivery of the stimulation and/or drug therapy.

Transcatheter system and method for regulating flow of fluid between two anatomical compartments

Catheter curvature braces and methods of using same

A catheter curvature brace, catheter assembly and method for managing fluid in a patient, the brace being attachable to a distal portion of a shaft of a catheter and having an elongated frame with a distal end and a proximal end. The frame is formed with at least one curve in a relaxed curved configuration. At least two coupling elements are connected to the frame, each coupling element configured to engage an outer surface of the catheter. At least the frame is formed of an elastic, biocompatible material capable of being straightened by a force and then returning to the relaxed curved configuration after the force is removed, thereby bending the catheter to substantially conform to the relaxed curved configuration.

DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR ACCESS AND NAVIGATION OF CEREBROSPINAL FLUID SPACE
20210236782 · 2021-08-05 · ·

The present disclosure relates to accessing, removing, exchanging and recirculating cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Devices, systems and methods disclosed herein are used to safely and efficiently navigate the space at and around the brain and spinal cord where the CSF flows through the body, also known as the CSF space.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING A VOLUME OF FLUID WITHIN A PORTION OF A PATIENT'S BODY
20210213260 · 2021-07-15 ·

The present disclosure relates generally to controlling a volume of fluid within a portion of a patient's body. For example, the present disclosure can relate to the addition or removal of cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) from a portion of the patient's brain. The amount of fluid can be controlled by a system that includes a dual chamber probe and a volume control. One channel can include a drain element to drain the fluid from the portion of a patient's body. The other channel can include a volume changing element to facilitate the drainage of the fluid by changing a volume of the portion of the patient's body. The volume changing element can be coupled to a volume control, which can control the change of the volume of the portion of the patient's body (e.g., based on passive oscillation or active oscillation).
