Skin antiseptic applicator and methods of making and using the same
The invention relates to applicators for applying a solution or other composition (e.g., an antiseptic composition) to skin of a patient. The applicator may include a container body having a proximal end, a distal end, and a frangible member disposed at the distal end of the body. The applicator includes a first position where the container body and frangible member are a unitary piece (e.g., blow molded as a single piece), and a second position when the frangible member is rotated relative to the body to irreversibly break a weak point therebetween, releasing the composition in the hollow body through an opening. A porous applicator head may be positioned adjacent the distal end of the body and frangible member, so that the composition flows out the body, through the opening, and onto the head. The applicator may be formed in a blow-fill-seal process for improved sterility and ease of manufacture.
Hemostatic agent and method
A sponge including one or more hemostatic agents and one or more binding agents. At least one of the hemostatic agents is a pregelatinized potato starch. The collective percentage by weight of the one or more hemostatic agents is within the range of approximately one eighth to approximately sixteen times as great as the collective percentage by weight of the one or more binding agents.
Medicinal applicator
The medicinal applicator is a device that applies a therapeutic liquid to a patient. The medicinal applicator extends the reach of the patient such that the patient can apply the therapeutic liquid to the back of the patient. The medicinal applicator includes a handle, a dispensing assembly, one or more applicators, a wicking structure and a wall mount. The dispensing assembly is mounted in the handle. The dispensing assembly transports the therapeutic liquid to an applicator selected from the one or more applicators. The selected applicator attaches to the handle. The selected applicator transports the therapeutic liquid from the dispensing assembly to the wicking structure. From the wicking structure the therapeutic liquid is applied to the patient. The wall mount allows the medicinal applicator to be hung from a wall.
MULTI-PURPOSE TOUCH FREE APPLICATOR WITH RESERVOIR
A multi-purpose, touch free applicator with reservoir is provided herein. The applicator includes at least one reservoir, a first film, at least one second film contained wholly within the reservoir and a pad. An enclosure defines an inner volume of the at least one reservoir and the enclosure has an opening at a proximal end of the at least one reservoir, wherein the boundary of the opening defines a perimeter of the reservoir. Further, the first film is fixedly attached to the perimeter of the enclosure and the first film has at least one frangible aperture within the perimeter of the reservoir. Moreover, the at least one second film divides the inner volume of the reservoir creating a plurality of distinct volumes within the inner volume of the reservoir. Finally, the pad is fixedly attached to the reservoir at the perimeter of the reservoir.
WOUND THERAPY SYSTEM WITH INTERNAL ALTERNATING ORIFICE
A wound therapy system includes a dressing sealable over a wound and defining a wound space between the dressing and the wound, tubing fluidly communicable with the wound space, and a canister fluidly communicable with the tubing. The canister, the tubing, and the dressing define a sealed space that includes the wound space. The wound therapy system also includes a therapy unit coupled to the canister. The therapy unit includes a sensor configured to measure a pressure in the sealed space, a valve positioned between the sealed space and a surrounding environment and controllable between an open position and a closed position, and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to control the valve to alternate between the open position and the closed position to allow airflow through the valve, receive measurements from the sensor, and determine a volume of the wound space based on the measurements.
Cooling adjunct for medications to treat disorders in the nasal cavity
The present discovery pertains generally to the field of therapeutic compounds. More specifically the present discovery pertains to certain di-alkyl-phosphinoyl-alkanes as described herein, DIPA-1-8 and DIPA-1-9, and 2-6 and 2-7 that are collectively referred to herein as DAPA compounds, that are useful in the treatment of disorders (e.g., diseases) including: sensory discomfort (e.g., caused by inflammation, irritation, itch, or pain) in the nasal cavity. The applicant has found that localized delivery of DAPA compounds in combination with an intranasal steroid or an intranasal antihistamine immediately relieves nasal discomfort and enhances patient adherence to the use of the nasal medications.
HAND-HELD APPLICATOR
A hand-held applicator includes a first applicator layer adjacent a first reservoir and a finger-receiving space for securely holding the applicator. When the first applicator layer is external facing, the fill material is dispensed outside the applicator and when the first applicator layer faces into the finger receiving space the fill material is dispensed into the finger-receiving space and applied to the finger or fingers in the finger-receiving space. The applicator may further include a second applicator layer adjacent a second reservoir and opposite the first applicator layer and first reservoir to securely store and dispense a second amount of the fill material. Reservoir access layers separate the first applicator layer and first reservoir, and the second applicator layer and second reservoir and transform between a first, closed position where the fill material is securely stored in a reservoir and a second, open position where fill material is dispensed from a reservoir through an applicator layer.
Multi-chamber container apparatuses and methods of making and using the same
The present invention relates to multi-chamber containers. Specifically, the multi-chamber containers comprise, generally, a first container having a swab or applicator contained therein and a second container having a solution therein. In various embodiments, a first container may comprise a fracture recess for breaking and removing the swab or applicator, and a second container may further comprise a fracture recess for opening and exposing the solution. In embodiments, first and second containers are disposed separately, or connectedly side-by-side. In embodiments, a second container is contained within a first container.
Liquid dermatological agent dispensing device
A dispensing device includes a container defining a reservoir containing a liquid and a porous applicator for dispensing the liquid. Another dispensing device includes two containers attached to each other, where the first container defines a reservoir containing a first liquid and a porous applicator for dispensing liquid and the second container contains a second liquid that may be dispensed via application of a force.
