Gene silencing in skin using self-delivery siRNA delivered by a meso device
The present invention is drawn to a low-cost meso device that is able to effectively deliver functional self-delivery siRNA to subject and inhibit expression of a gene in the subject as well as related methods. In particular, a method of transdermally delivering nucleic acid material to a subject is provided. The method includes adapting a motorized meso machine for delivery of nucleic acid material; introducing nucleic acid material into a chamber of the motorized meso machine; and contacting the motorized meso machine to a skin surface of a subject for a period of time sufficient to deliver the nucleic acid material into the skin surface of the subject.
Device for containment and release of a transdermal drug formulation
This invention relates to a device that uses microneedles to create pores in the skin of a subject and delivers the drug transdermally by inserting it into the pore as a solid or semi-solid mass alongside each needle. The device is sufficiently flexible to allow relative movement of the needle and the drug mass apart from one another. Preferably a chamber holding the drug mass comprises a relatively rigid wall to ensure that the drug remains aligned close to the needle, while an adjacent chamber holding the needle comprises a relatively flexible wall to allow lateral movement of the needle as the drug is inserted alongside it.
MICRONEEDLE PATCH AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR
Provided are a micro-needle patch and a manufacturing method thereof. The micro-needle patch includes: a support on one surface of which grooves are formed; a gel membrane for delivery of a transmitter to be transferred in which the grooves are filled with a mixture of the transmitter with a biodegradable resin, the mixture being in a gel phase; a plurality of micro-needles projected on the other surface of the support and for penetrating the skin; a first protective film that covers the gel membrane and is adhered on the support; and a second protective film that covers the plurality of micro-needles and is adhered on the other surface, wherein passages are formed by being penetrated from the support to each of the plurality of micro-needles or formed by penetrating the support between the plurality of micro-needles, so that the transmitter of the gel membrane is transferred to the skin.
Hydraulically Actuated Pump for Fluid Administration
A fluid delivery device comprises a hydraulic pump chamber having a hydraulic fluid. A fluid reservoir is coupled to the hydraulic pump chamber and is configured to contain a fluid deliverable to a patient. A first actuator is coupled to the hydraulic pump chamber and is configured to pressurize the hydraulic pump chamber and configured to transfer energy through the hydraulic pump chamber to the fluid reservoir. A second actuator is coupled to the hydraulic pump chamber and is configured to pressurize the hydraulic pump chamber and configured to transfer energy through the hydraulic pump chamber to the fluid reservoir.
Apparatus and method for the preparation and administration of blood components
A dual chambered syringe includes: an inner barrel defining a first inner chamber, the inner barrel having an apertured stopper at its distal end, the inner barrel being open at its proximal end; a shaft adapted to fit within the inner barrel, the shaft having a distal end which is engageable with the aperture of the stopper; a device for controlling engaging and disengaging of the distal end of the shaft with the aperture of the stopper; an outer barrel concentric with the inner barrel defining a second inner chamber, the outer barrel having a distal end for receiving and dispensing fluids and a proximal end into which the distal end of the inner barrel is insertable into the second inner chamber; the apertured stopper engages the second inner chamber of the outer barrel and selectively prevents or permits the passage of fluids between the outer barrel second chamber and the inner barrel first chamber; the inner barrel having an engageable surface on its outside surface; and, the outer barrel having operatively associated therewith an engaging device for selective engagement and disengagement with the engageable surface on the inner barrel.
