Cutter head with suction function and a method for using same
The invention relates to a cutter head for removing a mixture comprising water and solid materials from a water bottom, comprising rotating blades each provided with cutting means on a leading edge thereof, said cutter head being rotatably coupled to a tube for transporting said mixture, the shape of the leading edge of said rotating blades being defined by substantially fitting a rounded cone with a rotation axis, wherein each rotating blade at a middle part is coupled to a connecting ring and at a top part is linked to a top part of another rotating blade. The cutter head is characterized in that the rotation axis of said blades is substantially aligned with a rotation axis of said ring; in that a trailing edge of part at least one of said blades is positioned closer to said rotation axis than a leading edge of said blades so as to provide a suction function towards said tube upon rotation of said cutter head; and in that said blades as viewed from said top part at a bottom part of said blades extend to a position beyond said connecting ring. A preferred embodiment comprises a method for using the cutter head according to the invention.
Method for recovering rare-earth mud, and recovery system
A method for recovering rare-earth mud including steps of: (A) penetrating a mud gathering pipe into a layer containing rare-earth mud under the seafloor, (B) preparing a slurry containing a rare earth by loosening rare-earth mud in the mud gathering pipe, and (C) transferring the slurry through a mud raising pipe. A rare-earth mud recovery system including: a mud gathering pipe configured to penetrate into a layer containing rare-earth mud under a seafloor; a stirring device configured to loosen rare-earth mud in the mud gathering pipe; and a mud raising pipe connected to the mud gathering pipe.
Device and method for removing alluvial deposits from the bed of a body of water
Device for removing alluvial deposits (24) from the bed (29) of a body of water, whereby the device (1) consists of a bell (2) with an open bottom (3), whereby this device (2) is provided with means to control the water level (30) in the bell (2) and with suction means to suck up alluvial deposits (24), whereby a section of the sidewall (8) of the bell (2) is open at the bottom, whereby the opening (10) can be closed by a partition (12) that can be moved between a raised and a lowered position, and that the device (1) is provided with a drive (13) that is operated from a hydraulic crane (5), affixed to a floating structure, with an articulated arm (6) at the end of which the bell (2) is fastened and which is able to drive the partition (12) into the alluvial deposits (24) and to move the bell (2) in a horizontal direction by means of a computer-controlled controller without thereby raising the bell (2).
Cutterhead debris guard
A cutterhead for dredging water-bed material from a body of water. The cutterhead comprises a shroud presenting a front margin for receiving water-bed material into an interior space of the shroud. The shroud additionally includes a port from which water-bed material can be removed from the interior space of the shroud. The cutterhead additionally comprises a rotatable cutterbar at least partially received within the interior space of the shroud. The cutterhead further comprises a debris guard positioned between the cutterbar and the port. The debris guard is operable to filter the water-bed material removed from the shroud through the port. At least a portion of the debris guard that faces the cutterbar includes a concave shape.
Suctioning device for large artificial water bodies
