Methods For Making Microneedles Using Adjustment Of Component Solubility In Casting Formulations
20220401715 · 2022-12-22 ·

Methods are provided that involve the intentional and controlled precipitation of a drug or active agent, or a reduction of solubility of a polymer or other film-forming component of a formulation, or a combination of both methods, to improve the processes for making microneedles or other objects by casting into molds and the resulting parts produced by casting. The selective reduction in solubility of formulation components solves many problems associated with the casting of polymer formulations into molds. The methods are preferably adapted for making microneedles of biodegradable polymer and drug composites, and may also be used to produce other solid objects formed by casting into molds of compositions containing polymers and active agents.

Transdural Drug Delivery System

Devices for and related methods of treating a subject having a neurological injury to prevent or mitigate secondary injury are described. In an example, the devices include a base and a plurality of microneedles protruding from the base, the microneedles including a biocompatible and biodegradable matrix, and a neurologically active ingredient disposed within the matrix. In an example, a portion of the plurality of microneedles is shaped to penetrate the dura when the device is placed in contact with the dura.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEDICAL DEVICE ANCHORING

This disclosure sets forth various systems and methods for deploying anchored medical devices within a human or animal. The medical devices may deliver payloads, such as various sensors, electrodes, transmitters, cameras, electrical or other interventional devices, drugs or therapeutics. The devices may have one or more anchors, which attach the device to an anatomy of interest. This allows for methods and processes to be performed over periods of time, such as extended delivery of a therapy or real time sensing of characteristics inside a body, which the device remains within a given location.
