Some embodiments include an exterior insulated finish wall assembly including an exterior panel member and an insert member. The exterior panel member includes a rigid insulative substrate and a base coat selectively disposed on the rigid insulative substrate. The rigid insulative substrate includes a body portion and a tail portion extending from the body portion. The body portion has a first thickness and the tail portion having a second thickness less than the first thickness. The tail portion defines a recessed portion extending along a length of a lower edge. The insert member is configured to be disposed in the recessed portion. The insert member is sized and shaped to correspond to the recessed portion. The insert member includes the rigid insulative substrate and the base coat selectively disposed on the rigid insulative substrate. A drainage channel is defined between the tail portion and the insert member when assembled.

A system for supporting exterior panels on a substrate of a building structure. The system has a plurality of polymeric bracket members, and each of the bracket members have at least one anchor section, at least one web section and at least one support section. The polymeric bracket members provide a thermal break from the exterior panel to the substrate of the building structure. A plurality of exterior cladding units are held in place by the bracket members. A plurality of vents are disposed between the panels and the exterior panels, and a plurality of vents are also disposed between the panels and the substrate, thereby forming a ventilation system.

An exterior insulating system for a building includes at least one insulating panel having a wall-facing side and an outward-facing side, a top and a bottom, the at least one insulating panel having a slope at the top that angles downwardly from the wall facing side to the outward-facing side; and at least one auxiliary panel having a first elongated edge dimensioned to be fastened along a soffit that is extending outwards from a wall of the building, the first elongated edge opposite a main body of the at least one auxiliary panel from a second elongated edge of the at least one auxiliary panel that is connectable to the at least one insulating panel, the main body incorporating structure for permitting airflow through the main body. In one example, the first elongated edge of the at least one auxiliary panel comprises holes therethrough for receiving respective fasteners to fasten the first elongated edge along the soffit.

An exterior insulating system for a building includes at least one insulating panel having a wall-facing side and an outward-facing side, a top and a bottom, the at least one insulating panel having a slope at the top that angles downwardly from the wall-facing side to the outward-facing side; at least one elongated clip member fastenable along a soffit that is extending outwards from a wall of the building; and at least one auxiliary panel having a first edge that is dimensioned to be received by the at least one elongated clip member opposite a main body of the at least one auxiliary panel from a second edge of the at least one auxiliary panel that is connectable to the at least one insulating panel, the main body incorporating structure for permitting airflow through the main body.

An insulative panel includes a panel body having opposed front and rear surfaces extending between first and second lateral edges and between first and second longitudinal edges, with a plurality of recessed drainage channels formed in the rear surface and extending from the first longitudinal edge to the second longitudinal edge.

One aspect of the invention relates to an insulation and ventilation system for a building envelope (e.g. a building wall and/or a building roof).

The system includes: one or more first building envelope layers; an insulation panel having a first side abutting against at least one of the one or more first building envelope layers and a second side having a plurality of transversely spaced and continuously longitudinally extending grooves interspaced between a plurality of transversely spaced and continuously longitudinally extending protrusions; and one or more second building envelope layers located exterior to the insulation panel to provide a plurality of transversely localized venting channels defined at least in part by an interior surface of the one or more second building envelope layers and the grooves of the second side of the insulation panel.
