Medical valve
A medical valve which is able to more reliably support an outer peripheral part of an elastic valve body with respect to a housing, and prevent a problem of the elastic valve body becoming dislodged inward. A medical valve includes an elastic valve body with annular grooves formed thereon and a tubular support part formed at an outer peripheral side of an annular joining part positioned between the annular grooves. Inside and outside holding parts engage the annular grooves provided to the valve inside and outside surfaces of the annular joining part. The outside holding part and inside holding part are provided to an opening member, and with the tubular support part, a part projecting inward in an axial direction is sandwiched and supported between the inside holding part and outside holding part.
Neurosurgical apparatus
A neurosurgical apparatus includes a guide device and a neurosurgical instrument is disclosed. The guide device includes a tube for insertion into the brain and a head attached to the proximal end of the tube for affixing the guide device to a hole formed in the skull. The head has a passageway therethrough in communication with the bore of the tube such that the bore of the tube and the passageway through the head define an internal channel through which a neurosurgical instrument can be passed into the brain of the subject. The neurosurgical instrument is for insertion to a desired brain target through the internal channel of the guide device. The apparatus includes one or more sealing elements for providing a fluid tight seal between the internal channel of the guide device and the exterior of the neurosurgical instrument to prevent fluid leakage from guide tube.
Implantable Port Placement System Including Low-Scarring Exterior
Disclosed herein is a system and a method for streamlining the port placement process. The placement system can simultaneously form an incision, dissect tissue, create a tissue pocket of the correct size for the port being placed, and place the port subcutaneously. In an embodiment, the port includes tunneling features for creating a subcutaneous tissue pocket. In an embodiment, the insertion tool includes tunneling features for creating a subcutaneous tissue pocket. Further, the port includes a reinforced, concave septum that allows for a low overall profile of the port, while still capable of withstanding power injection. This results in reduced procedure times, reduced scarring, and minimized wound management.
Disinfection Cap
A disinfection cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the disinfection cap including a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a cavity, a blockage feature disposed on the top wall of the cavity, the blockage feature for fluidly blocking a hub of a luer connector, disinfectant or antimicrobial agent disposed within an open cell foam structure within the cavity. The open cell foam structure releasing the disinfectant or antimicrobial agent as the open cell foam structure is depressed by the hub of the luer connector.
LOW-FRICTION SEALING DEVICES
Aspects herein relate to a low-friction septum for providing a leak-resistant seal for use in a vascular access device. In an embodiment, a device for vascular access hemostasis is included having an enclosure defining a cavity and configured to at least partially receive a medical device. The device can include a first seal portion and a second seal portion, the cavity disposed between the first seal portion and the second seal portion. The device can include a barrel in structural communication with the second seal portion, the second seal portion including a septum seal. The second seal portion can define two or more discrete portions, each separated by one or more split lines. The discrete portions can include a mating surface to interface with mating surfaces of other discrete portions. The mating surface can include a surface topology including raised portions and depressions. Other embodiments are also included herein.
Non-luer compatible administration port
The present disclosure provides a medical connector for enteral applications. The medical connector includes a body portion having a distal patient access fitting and a proximal fluid delivery device fitting as well as an administration port. The administration port for administrating or extracting fluids or medicine includes a cylindrical cavity, an administration port seal having a normally-closed slit, a plunger, a plunger sleeve, and a compression member. Engaging a non-luer female tip with the administration port actuates the compression member such that the plunger pierces the normally-closed slit, causing it to open allowing fluid communication with the body portion.
Fluid Delivery System
The fluid delivery devices, systems and methods described herein include a subcutaneous port, a catheter, and a connection assembly configured to fluidly couple the port and catheter.
Needleless syringe connector cap and container
A needleless syringe connector cap to be provided to a container having an aperture at its top, said cap comprising an elastically deformable plastic valve body. Said valve body comprises a first and second passage, each passage extending through the valve body. Both passages comprise a cross-slit valve in the extreme lower end of said passage, embodied as an aeration valve. The first passage is adapted to receive a first tapered syringe tip and the second passage is adapted to receive a second tapered syringe tip, wherein when fluid is withdrawn from a container to which the cap is provided through the first (second) passage using a first (second) tapered syringe tip to which said first (second) passage is adapted, the second (first) cross-slit valve opens in response to an under pressure in said container resulting from said withdrawal, so as to aerate said container.
INFUSION DEVICE WITH RELEASABLE FLUID CONNECTOR
An infusion set system includes a base and a fluid connector removably coupleable thereto. The fluid connector includes a fluid path portion and at least one connector latch displaceably connected to the fluid path portion and displaceable to a latching position in which at least a portion of the connector latch extends into the fluid path portion, which includes a cannula extending from a top interior surface thereof, and a plurality of internal sidewalls corresponding to at least two of a plurality of flat side surfaces of at least one of a base section and a base latch, thereby facilitating connection between the base and the fluid connector in a plurality of discrete rotational connecting positions. When the fluid connector is locked to the base, the at least one connector latch engages a base latching portion of the base and restricts proximal displacement of the fluid connector.
Method of manufacturing a base element of a medicament delivery device
