Vascular access port
An access port, wherein the access port may include a body having an exterior surface and a chamber defined therein, a bore defined in the body providing fluid communication between the chamber and the exterior surface, a needle in fluid communication with the chamber, a passage defined in the body providing communication between the chamber and the exterior surface, a seal secured within the passage, and an actuator in communication with the needle, configured to move the needle relative to the passage or move the passage relative to the needle.
MEDICINAL LIQUID INJECTION PORT AND MEDICINAL LIQUID INJECTION DEVICE
There is provided a medicinal liquid injection port to be implanted subcutaneously. A housing main body is provided with a medicinal liquid storage portion therein, an opening portion that opens the medicinal liquid storage portion, and a discharge hole that communicates with the medicinal liquid storage portion and configured to be connected with a tube. A septum attached to the opening portion of the housing main body and provided with a puncturable region that can be punctured with a puncture needle. A contrast portion is disposed in the septum over a thickness direction of the septum so as to detect the puncturable region of the septum with the ultrasonic wave. The contrast portion is provided in the septum within a thickness region of the septum and all of the contrast portion is positioned at an inner side of the septum in the thickness direction of the septum.
SELF-SEALING SEPTUM
Disclosed herein is a pierceable elastic septum for use in drug reservoirs and infusion sets, the pierceable septum comprising a first surface and a second surface. The first surface and the second surface are positioned opposite to each other. A distance between the first surface and the second surface is not constant over the first surface, and is configured such that if a higher pressure is applied to the first surface as compared to the second surface, a component of a force, which is exerted on the first surface, acts towards an axis (A) which intersects the center of the first surface and the center of the second surface.
Self-sealing pipette septum
A liquid injection port including a liquid input block defining a liquid input conduit; a compression block adapted to mate with the liquid input block; and a septum including a deformable material mounted in a septum retainer, the septum defining a central perforation, and forming a seal between the liquid input block and the compression block. The septum defines a conical deformation toward the liquid input conduit. A method for delivering fluid from a pipette tip includes a) introducing the fluid into the pipette tip; b) inserting the pipette tip into a pipette conduit defined by a compression block; c) inserting the pipette tip through a septum mounted in the compression block; and d) releasing the fluid in the pipette tip into a liquid input conduit defined in a liquid input block, the septum defining a conical deformation toward the liquid input conduit while maintaining a seal.
LOW-DRAG SEPTUM FOR A CATHETER SYSTEM
A peripheral intravenous catheter assembly may include a low-drag septum. The septum may include a body having a distal end and a proximal end, which may be sealed. The septum may include a slot disposed within an outer surface of the body and oriented along a longitudinal axis of the body. The slot may include a distal end spaced apart from the distal end of the body, and a proximal end spaced apart from the proximal end of the body. An introducer needle may extend through the slot.
CONNECTOR FOR A MEDICAL PACKAGE CONTAINING A LIQUID
The invention relates to a connector for a medical package containing a liquid. The connector comprises a lower section which has a connecting piece for a container of said medical package and a passageway which is closed by a septum, as well as an upper section which is provided with a cap that covers the septum and can be broken off, said septum having, on a top side, a plurality of connections in the form of elevations, for a spike and/or for a needle.
Implantable dual reservoir access port
A dual reservoir access port includes a base having proximal and distal fluid reservoirs. The fluid reservoirs each comprise a bottom and a side wall. A dual prong outlet stem projects from a distal end of the base and comprises a first prong and a second prong. A first fluid channel extends through the first prong to the distal reservoir, and a second fluid channel extends through the second prong to the proximal fluid reservoir. A puncture shield is disposed between at least a portion of the second fluid channel and the bottom of the distal fluid reservoir. A needle-penetrable septum is disposed atop of each of the fluid reservoirs. A cap is placed over and around the port base compressing and sealing the septa against the base. A locking collar may be placed over a dual lumen catheter to lock the catheter to the dual prong outlet stem.
CATHETER ASSEMBLY WITH HIGH VISCOSITY LUBRICANT AND RELATED METHODS
A method of preventing blood leakage through a septum of a catheter assembly when a needle is disposed within a slit of the septum may include providing a lubricant within multiple gaps disposed between an outer surface of the needle and the slit. The lubricant may include a viscosity greater than 1,000 centipoise. Providing the lubricant within the multiple gaps may include applying the lubricant to the outer surface of the needle, and inserting the lubricated needle distally through the slit of the septum. Providing the lubricant within the multiple gaps may include applying the lubricant to a tip of a septum actuator of the catheter assembly, and penetrating the septum with the lubricated septum actuator. Providing the lubricant within the plurality of gaps may include dispensing the lubricant within the slit of the septum prior to insertion of the septum into the lumen of the catheter adapter.
VENTED REFILL ARRANGEMENT FOR IMPLANTABLE DRUG-DELIVERY DEVICES
Embodiments of the present invention provide a vent arrangement integrated with a refill port disposed on the outer shell of an implantable drug-delivery device. The vent arrangement may utilize a tiered structure with two septums in a space-efficient configuration that facilitates both venting of pressure and refill of the drug reservoir.
