A door keeper, for keeping a door opening angle of a door within a predetermined angle, includes a hinge bracket attached to a support structure; a keeper plate having a bracket side end portion pivotally mounted to the hinge bracket, a door side end portion, and a keeper guide slot having a door side slot end portion disposed proximate to the door side end portion of the keeper plate, the keeper guide slot extending from the door side slot end portion to an opposite slot end portion disposed at a location between the bracket side end portion and the door side end portion of the keeper plate; and a keeper member movably disposed in the keeper guide slot and fixedly attached to a lower part of the door. An opening motion of the door stops when the door side slot end portion engages the keeper member.

The device is particularly applicable to motor vehicle doors.

The first braking element has a central boring, the door retainer rod (30) has an elongate through-hole (33), a guide pin (40) passes through the central boring and the through-hole (33), and the guide pin (40) permits an axial movement of the first braking element along the guide pin (40).

A door checker includes a housing which has a base from which first and second opposing flanges extend. First and second guide pins are spaced apart from one another and are interconnected to the first and second flanges. The first and second guide pins are configured to deflect in response to a load. A check arm extends through the base and is arranged between the first and second guide pins. The check arm is configured to move relative to the housing and includes a profile that corresponds to a variable door holding force. A bearing member is arranged on one side of the check arm and the bearing member coacts with the profile and is supported on the first and second guide pins and is configured to slide thereon in response to movement of the check arm relative to the bearing member. The bearing member transfers the load from the check arm to the first and second guide pins.
