A counterbalanced system has first and second components e.g. vehicle panel pivotably connected to a vehicle. The counterbalanced system has a counterbalance assembly coupled to the first and second components. The counterbalance assembly includes at least one counterbalance subassembly having a cam secured to the first component, a cam bracket secured to the first second component, a bracket secured to the second component, and at least one torsion element extending between the cam bracket and the bracket. If two or more subassemblies are used, the torsion elements of each of the counterbalance subassemblies can extend along a common torsion axis or along parallel torsion axes spaced from a pivot axis. The counterbalance subassemblies are spaced from one another in a direction parallel to or along a common torsion axis. Each subassembly can be adjusted within a range of torque values. The counterbalanced system may comprise a hinge.

A system for moving a hinge between an open position and a closed position is disclosed. The hinge couples a closure panel to a body. The system can include an actuator for driving the closure panel between the open position and the closed position. A counterweight member reduces a mechanical effort provided by the actuator to drive the closure panel.

This disclosure relates to a hinge assembly for mounting a closure member or tailgate to a vehicle. It includes a hinge bracket and connector body for connection to one side of the tailgate. The connector body provides a fixed connection to the vehicle and enables the hinge bracket to rotate about a pivot axis, so that the tailgate rotates. Also included are a first torque rod having one end fixed to the connector body and an opposite, free end, and a second torque rod spaced from the first torque rod and pivot axis. The second torque rod has one end fixed to the hinge bracket and an opposite, free end. A connector device anchors the free ends of the torque rods together within the tailgate, so that the rods deflect when the tailgate is pivoted between its opened and closed positions to produce a biasing torque towards an opposite position.

A clip assembly for torsion rods of a closure panel of a vehicle includes a clip and an elastic member. The clip is configured to receive a first torsion rod and a second torsion rod. The elastic member is configured to be received by the clip. The clip includes a body member, a first leg extending outwardly in a first direction, and a second leg extending outwardly in a second direction opposite to the first direction. A first groove is disposed in the first leg and a second groove is disposed in the second leg. The first groove and the second groove are configured to receive the elastic member.

A clip assembly for torsion rods of a closure panel of a vehicle includes a clip and an elastic member. The clip is configured to receive a first torsion rod and a second torsion rod. The elastic member is configured to be received by the clip. The clip includes a body member, a first leg extending outwardly in a first direction, and a second leg extending outwardly in a second direction opposite to the first direction. A first groove is disposed in the first leg and a second groove is disposed in the second leg. The first groove and the second groove are configured to receive the elastic member.
