Smart connection interface
A method and apparatus for a connection interface between a reservoir or syringe, infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump is provided. The reservoir, a base and a cap are connected to form an integrated unit that is capable of being inserted and secured in an infusion pump housing. The cap and the infusion pump are each provided with at least one sensor or at least one detectable feature, arranged to interact with at least one corresponding detectable feature or sensor on the other of the cap and infusion pump device, to detect one or more of the presence, position or other characteristic of the cap when the cap is aligned or coupled with the infusion pump housing. The detectable feature and sensor may be magnetic, RF, mechanical, optical or any combination.
RANDOM PINOUT CATHETER
A catheter is disclosed comprising: a connector including a plurality of first contacts and one or more second contacts; a shaft including a plurality of electrodes, each electrode being coupled to a different one of the plurality of first contacts; a memory coupled to at least one of the second contacts, wherein the memory is configured to: store a pinout map identifying an order in which the plurality of electrodes is coupled to the plurality of first contacts; and provide the pinout map to an external device via one or more of the second contacts after the connector is coupled to the external device.
Electrical catheter
A powered catheter and/or powered catheter system is described. The catheter includes a catheter hub with one set of contact components that are configured to connect to a mating cable with a corresponding second set of contact components. The mating cable can be part of another device, such as a controller or power source.
Heated respiratory hose wiring
A method of forming a hose includes: extruding a web of plastics material from a first extruder; helically winding the extruded web about a mandrel or at least one rotating rod to form a wall of the hose; feeding an electrical wire into a second extruder; extruding a bead of plastics material around the electrical wire from the second extruder, wherein the first electrical wire is positioned at a first location within a cross-section of the bead that comprises a bonding surface; cooling the bead to cool the plastics material adjacent the first location to prevent migration of the first electrical wire from the first location; re-heating the first bonding surface to cause the plastics material of the bonding surface to become molten; and helically winding the bead onto the hose to put the bonding surface into contact with, and to cause bonding with, the wall of the hose.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INCREASING THERAPY COMPLIANCE
A breathing assistance unit for providing pressurized heated humidified air to a user increases user compliance. The breathing assistance unit generates positive emotional and cognitive states of a user about the therapy.
SYSTEM FOR IDENTIFYING THE PRESENCE AND CORRECTNESS OF A MEDICAL DEVICE ACCESSORY
A medical device accessory comprising an interface configured to connect the medical device accessory with a medical device for administration of a medical treatment using the medical device and the medical device accessory, a plurality of electrical contacts proximate the interface, the electrical contacts comprising a lead electrical contact adapted to receive an voltage from a power source associated with the medical device and one or more identifying electrical contacts, and at least one conductor providing an electrical connection between the lead electrical contact and the one or more identifying electrical contacts. An arrangement of the one or more identifying electrical contacts connected to the lead electrical contact identifies a characteristic of the medical device accessory.
Pump device, tube device and method for movement and collection of fluid
A pump device, tube device and method for the aspiration, peristaltic movement and collection of fluid. A rigid tube for drawing fluid connected to a primary flexible tube. The primary flexible tube inserted through a peristaltic pump.
NEUROSURGERY GUIDEWIRE WITH INTEGRAL CONNECTOR FOR SENSING AND APPLYING THERAPEUTIC ELECTRICAL ENERGY
A medical probe includes a guidewire, and a connector at a proximal end of the probe. The guidewire is configured to be inserted into an organ of a patient and includes one or more electrical devices fitted at a distal end of the guidewire, and two or more conductors, which connect the electrical devices to a proximal end of the guidewire. The conductors have proximal ends that are exposed at different positions along the proximal end of the guidewire. The connector is fitted with multiple conductive rings that are positioned to mate with the respective exposed proximal ends of the conductors, and to maintain electrical contact with the conductors while the guidewire is rotated.
SMART SMALL-BORE CONNECTOR DEVICE
A connector device includes a connector. An electrical lead wire is positioned in the connector. The electrical lead wire is configured to provide communication between the connector device and an external device. In certain embodiments, the electrical lead wire includes a contact point on a surface of the connector for electrically coupling the connector device to the external device. In addition to or as an alternative to the electrical lead wire, the connector device may include an optical coupling or channel in the connector configured for optical light transmission between the connector device and the external device.
