System for identifying the presence and correctness of a medical device accessory
A medical device accessory comprising an interface configured to connect the medical device accessory with a medical device for administration of a medical treatment using the medical device and the medical device accessory, a plurality of electrical contacts proximate the interface, the electrical contacts comprising a lead electrical contact adapted to receive an voltage from a power source associated with the medical device and one or more identifying electrical contacts, and at least one conductor providing an electrical connection between the lead electrical contact and the one or more identifying electrical contacts. An arrangement of the one or more identifying electrical contacts connected to the lead electrical contact identifies a characteristic of the medical device accessory.
Method for checking a connection state between a blood treatment apparatus and a blood tubing set, and apparatuses
The disclosure relates to a method for checking a connection between a compressed air outlet of a blood treatment apparatus and a pressure measuring line of an extracorporeal blood tubing set. The methods disclosed include providing a blood treatment apparatus having a compressed air line. A compressed air device is in fluid communication with the compressed air line for generating pressure within the compressed air line. A compressed air outlet is in fluid communication with both the compressed air line and an exterior of the blood treatment apparatus. The compressed air outlet is connectable with a pressure measuring line and a pressure sensor. The method also includes building up a pressure and an air flow in the compressed air line and/or at the compressed air outlet, measuring a pressure at the compressed air outlet or in the compressed air line, and evaluating an increase of the measured pressure.
MEDIUM CONNECTOR
A medium connector including a passage configured to allow for the flow of medium, and a multi-portion engagement surface positioned about the passage. The multi-portion engagement surface includes a first surface portion, and a second surface portion. The first surface portion is configured to provide an interference fit with a corresponding sealing surface of a mating connector. The second surface portion is configured to provide a clearance fit with the corresponding sealing surface of the mating connector. The ratio of the first surface portion and the second surface portion is selected to regulate an engagement force between the medium connector and the mating connector.
TORQUE LIMITING CONNECTOR
Torque limiting connectors are described herein. A torque limiting connector includes an outer connector, and inner connector, and a clutch. The outer connector includes a profile disposed on an inner surface of the outer connector. The inner connector may be disposed within the outer connector and can include an upper threaded portion and a lower threaded portion. The clutch can be disposed around and rotationally coupled to the inner connector and can include a plurality of clutch teeth extending from an outer surface of the clutch, wherein the plurality of clutch teeth are outwardly biased to be releasably engaged with the profile of the outer connector. The plurality of clutch teeth can be configured to transfer torque from the outer connector to the inner connector when the torque is below a torque limit, and prevent transfer of torque when the torque exceeds the torque limit.
Flexible Cap for Conical Connectors
The present disclosure is directed to a flexible cap for a medical fitting, such as a luer-lock fitting. The flexible cap includes a cap component defining a top surface, a cylindrical wall extending opposite from the top surface of the cap component, and an inner sealing surface. The cylindrical wall defines a hollow interior configured to receive an internal tapered sealing wall of a male connector of the medical fitting so as to form a seal with an outer surface of the tapered sealing wall. Further, the inner sealing surface of the flexible cap is configured within the hollow interior. Thus, when the tapered sealing wall of the male connector of the medical fitting is received within the hollow interior of the cylindrical wall, the inner sealing surface of the flexible cap seals the fluid passageway of the tapered sealing wall.
FEMALE SYRINGE BARREL, SYRINGE KIT, AND SYRINGE CONNECTION METHOD
A female syringe barrel is disclosed, which includes two protrusions provided on a cylindrical portion. A length (Lp) of the protrusion along a direction, perpendicular to an axis of the cylindrical portion and perpendicular to a direction in which the protrusion protrudes from the cylindrical portion, is 2.0 mm to 4.5 mm. A width of the protrusion along an axial direction of the cylindrical portion is 1.0 mm to 2.1 mm. Each of the two protrusions has an inclined surface, which opposes a trailing flank of the screw when the two protrusions are engaged into the screw of the lock adapter, in an end portion close to the barrel body.
Releasable connection assembly
A releasable connection assembly for connecting tubing sections is disclosed. The assembly includes a male bayonet connector including a shaft having a distal end and a proximal end, and a female latch connector. The male bayonet connector includes a shaft having a distal end and a proximal end, and defining a lumen extending between the distal end and the proximal end. A rib extends radially from the distal end of the shaft. The female latch connector defines an exterior opening configured to receive at least part of the distal end and the rib of the shaft. A method of using a releasable connection assembly for connecting tubing sections is also disclosed.
MEDICAL CONNECTOR
A luer connector including a rigid housing having a first end and a second end. The housing further including a rigid tubular male portion at the first end, a rigid tubular female portion at the second end, and a longitudinal opening therethrough. The male portion is configured to be engageable with a female connector. The female portion is configured to be engageable with a male connector and to prevent the disengagement of the male connector from the female portion. In some embodiments, the female portion is configured to maintain a fixed rotational position when the male connector is being threaded therewith, but to rotate with the male connector once the male connector has become fully engaged with the female portion so as to prevent the male connector from becoming unthreaded from the female portion.
Connector System For Releasably Connecting Fluid Conduits
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a connector system for releasably connecting together tubes, for example medical tubing, and methods of making and using such a connector system, whereby the connector system includes a female coupler having a first passageway, a male coupler having a second passageway, a catch movably coupled to the female coupler, and a catch-receiving element coupled to the male coupler. The connector system further includes a release element movably coupled to the female coupler, whereby travel of the release element along or over a female coupler outer surface of the female coupler disengages the catch from the catch-receiving element to achieve a disconnected condition of the connector system. Further disclosed herein are embodiments of a connector system for releasably connecting together tubes, whereby the connector system includes at least one valve biased by a valve-biasing member disposed external to or outside of the fluid flow path.
