Protected Medical Valve
An apparatus for protecting a medical valve are disclosed, including a housing having a proximal female luer connection, a valve within the proximal female luer connection, a distal male luer tip, and a fluid passageway between the proximal female luer connection and the distal male luer tip; and a cover member comprising a substantially hollow cylinder with two or more flaps at a proximal end and an aperture at the distal end; wherein the aperture of the cover member is configured to receive the housing so that the two or more flaps are positioned above the proximal female luer connection; and wherein the two or more flaps are configured to fold into the substantially hollow cylinder when pressed on by a syringe or an IV in order to allow the connection of the syringe or the IV onto the proximal female luer connection. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Protected Medical Valve
An apparatus for protecting a medical valve are disclosed, including a housing having a proximal female luer connection, a valve within the proximal female luer connection, a distal male luer tip, and a fluid passageway between the proximal female luer connection and the distal male luer tip; and a cover member coupled to the housing and covering the proximal female luer connection; wherein the cover member is configured to remain coupled to the housing while exposing the proximal female luer connection for connection with a syringe or an IV. In some embodiments with an extendible fluid passageway, the proximal female luer connection is extended when the proximal female luer connection is exposed. In yet another embodiment, a cover member is removably attachable to any unprotected medical valve. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
CLOSED MALE LUER DEVICE FOR USE WITH NEEDLELESS ACCESS DEVICES
A medical connector can include a body having a fluid path with an inlet port, an outlet port, a luer portion, and a post extending through a fluid path. An arm having a latch member is coupled to the body to engage a ridge or thread on an exterior surface of a reciprocal connector. The arm may also include an extension. When the connector is in an open position, the latch member restricts retraction of the reciprocal connector from the outlet port. A seal is coupled to the body and includes a flap extending across the outlet port or a bellows to compress along an axis. In a closed position, the post restricts flow through the luer portion. In an open position, the post permits flow through the luer portion.
CONNECTION PROTECTOR, SECUREMENT SYSTEM HAVING THE CONNECTION PROTECTOR AND USES THEREOF
Aspects of the disclosure provide a connection protector and a securement system including the connection protector. For example, the connection protector can include a first cover portion and a second cover portion, a combination of which forms an internal compartment configured to enclose a connection point of a first conveying device and a second conveying device. A hinge can be coupled to first sides of the first and second cover portions, enabling the first and second cover portions to be in open or close position. Two openings can be formed on both ends of the first and second cover portions, allowing the first and second conveying devices to pass therethrough, respectively. A first tamper-proof locking assembly attached to second sides of the first and second cover portions, the first tamper-proof locking assembly configured to lock the first cover portion to the second cover portion.
Device for connecting medical disposable articles in a sterile manner
The invention relates to a device for sterile connection of single-use medical articles, consisting of an outlet connector (1), which has an outlet cylinder (4) that is equipped with a seal (6) and that is closed at one of its ends. A union nut (8) is provided on the outlet connector (1), and of an inlet connector (2), which can be connected with the outlet connector (1) and which is closed at one of its ends. The outlet connector (1) and the inlet connector (2) are respectively closed at their ends turned toward one another with a perforation seal (9, 9).
Enteral feeding connector
A medical tubing connector includes a first connector portion configured for connecting to a mating second connector. A tube engagement portion is integral with and opposite the first connector portion and configured for connecting to a medical tube. A liquid passage extends through the first connector portion and the tube engagement portion. The first connector portion includes a continuous outer surface for sealing engagement with the mating second connector. An annular portion is integral with and surrounds the male connector portion. A connecting portion connects the first connector portion to the annular portion. The connecting portion is discontinuous permitting liquid to pass through the connecting portion so that liquid is prevented from pooling between the first connector portion and the annular portion.
Connection Clamping Device
A connection clamping device (21; 61; 81; 131; 151) arranged for connecting a flexible tube (1) to a barbed end (5b) of a connection means (5), whereby the barbed end (5b) comprises a barb (9) and the connection means during connection is arranged to protrude into an end of the flexible tube (1), characterized in that said connection clamping device comprises two halves (23a, 23b) which, during connection when the connection means protrudes into an end of the flexible tube, are arranged to be connected and locked to each other by a locking mechanism (33a,33b,34a,34b; 63a, 63b, 64a, 64b) around the connection means (5) and the flexible tube (1), such that the flexible tube (1) is compressed against the connection means (5) by a rib (41a, 41b) provided on the inner circumference of the connection clamping device.
FLUID LINE AUTOCONNECT APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT SYSTEM
A medical infusion fluid handling system, such as an automated peritoneal dialysis system, may be arranged to de-cap and connect one or more lines (such as solution lines) with one or more spikes or other connection ports on a fluid handling cassette. This feature may reduce a likelihood of contamination since no human interaction is required to de-cap and connect the one or more lines and the one or more spikes. For example, the automated peritoneal dialysis system may include a carriage arranged to receive the one or more lines each having a connector end and a cap. The carriage may move along a first direction so as to move the connector ends of the one or more lines along the first direction, and a cap stripper may be arranged to engage with the caps on the the one or more lines on the carriage. The cap stripper may move in a second direction transverse to the first direction, as well as to move with the carriage along the first direction.
SYSTEM FOR MEDICAL INTRAVASCULAR LINE CONTAMINATION PROTECTION
The present invention provides better protection to IC connection joints during assembly, access, connection, and during maintenance. The present disclosure relates to a protection barrier for an IV access system joint of an IV access system, so that the IV access system and patient are better protected from environmental contamination and microbial ingress between access events or while maintained in a connected configuration.
