FLUID ACCESS DEVICES AND METHODS

Fluid access devices include a machine-side hydraulic circuit and a patient-side hydraulic circuit, and are configurable between a connected state and at least one disconnected state. In the connected state, fluid flows between the machine-side hydraulic circuit and the patient-side hydraulic circuit. In the disconnected state, fluid does not flow between the machine-side hydraulic circuit and the patient-side hydraulic circuit. In some disconnected states, fluid recirculates through at least one of the machine-side hydraulic circuit or the patient-side hydraulic circuit in the disconnected state.

A clamp comprising: a first arcuate portion; a second arcuate portion hingedly connected to the first arcuate portion; and a ratchet mechanism for locking the first and second arcuate portions in a closed position; wherein the ratchet mechanism comprises a linear rack provided with the second arcuate portion and a pawl provided with the first arcuate portion for receiving the linear rack; wherein the linear rack comprises one or more asymmetrical teeth and the pawl comprises a finger which is configured to engage with the teeth of the linear rack. The pawl is formed by a module which is detachably connected to the first arcuate portion

METHOD OF INCREASING THE LEAK TIGHTNESS OF A MECHANICAL CONNECTOR

The invention relates to a method of increasing the leak tightness of a mechanical connector of an extracorporeal blood treatment machine, wherein the mechanical connector has a pair of connection parts which have corresponding sealing surfaces, with at least one of the two sealing surfaces being wetted at least sectionally by a viscous fluid before the joining together of the connection parts and/or with the connection gap between the connection parts being covered by a sheath after their joining together. The invention further relates to an extracorporeal blood treatment machine comprising a mechanical connector which has a pair of connection parts which have corresponding sealing surfaces, with the sealing surfaces being at least sectionally wetted with a viscous liquid with a closed connector and/or with the connection gap between the connection parts of the closed connector being covered by a sheath.

Fluid line autoconnect apparatus and methods for medical treatment system

A medical infusion fluid handling system, such as an automated peritoneal dialysis system, may be arranged to de-cap and connect one or more lines (such as solution lines) with one or more spikes or other connection ports on a fluid handling cassette. This feature may reduce a likelihood of contamination since no human interaction is required to de-cap and connect the one or more lines and the one or more spikes. For example, the automated peritoneal dialysis system may include a carriage arranged to receive the one or more lines each having a connector end and a cap. The carriage may move along a first direction so as to move the connector ends of the one or more lines along the first direction, and a cap stripper may be arranged to engage with the caps on the the one or more lines on the carriage. The cap stripper may move in a second direction transverse to the first direction, as well as to move with the carriage along the first direction.

Injection port protector

A device is provided for shielding a fluid access port structure that is located along tubing that is part of an intravenous (IV) medication delivery system and is configured to permit injection of a fluid into the tubing. The device includes a body having a hollow interior and a first opening formed therein for receiving the fluid access port structure such that a side wall of the body surrounds and extends above the fluid access port structure. The body also includes a second opening through which a fluid delivery member can be inserted to allow mating between the fluid delivery member and the fluid access port structure for delivering the fluid into the tubing.

Multi-lumen tube assemblies for medical fluid pumping systems

An assembly comprises a manifold configured to couple to a medical fluid cassette and a multi-lumen tube comprising a plurality of lumens within an outer wall of the multi-lumen tube. The manifold has a plurality of fluid connection ports and can be connected to the multi-lumen tube (e.g., via an adapter).

Anti-snagging infusion sets

Anti-snagging components for use in infusion sets are provided. The anti-snagging component includes a sliding surface that guides an infusion set component past an obstruction when the infusion set is moved during manufacture or use. An anti-snagging structure may be integrally formed as a portion of an infusion set component or the anti-snagging structure may be a separate component that connects or attaches to an infusion set component. Some anti-snagging structures include a covering portion to cover a needleless connector and a tail portion to connect to a length of tubing. The covering portion may include an anti-microbial coating.

Medical treatment system and methods using a plurality of fluid lines

A medical treatment system, such as a peritoneal dialysis system, may include a control and other features to enhance patient comfort and ease of use. For example, a cycler device may include a heater bag receiving section and a lid mounted to cover and uncover the heater bag receiving section, potentially enabling faster heating of a dialysate. A user interface may be moveable to be received into the receiving section and covered by the lid, if desired. The system may detect anomalous conditions, such as tilting of a housing of the system, and automatically recover without terminating a treatment. The system may include noise reduction features, such as porting pneumatic outputs to a common chamber, and others. The system may also automatically detect any one of several different solution lines connected to the system, and control operation accordingly, e.g., to mix solutions provided by two or more lines and form a needed dialysate solution. A cassette control surface may be arranged to have one or more ports that can detect a presence of a liquid, e.g., to identify if a cassette is leaking or has otherwise been compromised.
