ANTI-MICROBIAL TUBING PROTECTION SYSTEM
Embodiments described herein relate to encasements for protection of central lines, arterial lines, and/or intravenous (IV) lines from contaminants, and methods of making and using the same. In some embodiments, an encasement device can include a flexible sleeve that fits over a central line and protects the central line from contaminants. The flexible sleeve has a first open end and a second open end. A first closing element secures the first open end to a medical dressing and a second closing element secures the second open end in a closed position at a location distal to the first closing element. In some embodiments, the central line can include an intravenous (IV) catheter, a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and/or a hemodialysis line. In some embodiments, the device can include a flap coupled to the flexible sleeve.
Medical connectors with luer-incompatible connection portions
A connector system for medical fluid includes a male connector and a female connector that have a closed configuration when detached from one another. The first end of the male connector is configured to mate with a first end of the female connector. When the male connector is coupled with the female connector, complementary structures engage to move seals away from ports in the male connector and the female connector, opening a fluid pathway through the connectors. The mating ends of the connectors are not exposed to the medical fluid when the connectors are coupled so that when the connectors are disconnected, the mating ends are substantially free of residual medical fluid.
Disposable protective assembly apparatus for a dental syringe
Embodiments disclose a disposable protective assembly apparatus for a dental syringe body of a dental syringe. The apparatus is a combination of a disposable syringe tip and a disposable protective sleeve, the sleeve being pre-attached to the syringe tip, and the sleeve being in a pre-folded position to be quickly and easily slid over the dental syringe prior to a dental operation.
MEDICAL PORT PROTECTION ADAPTERS
Medical port protection adapters are described herein. In one aspect, a contamination guard can include a proximal collar adapted and configured to engage with a medical port; an elastomeric medial region coupled to the proximal collar; and a distal collar coupled to the proximal collar by the elastomeric medial region; where the elastomeric medial region is adapted and configured to: bias the distal collar to extend at least partially over a distal end of the port when in an unloaded position; and allow the distal collar to resiliently travel proximally when loaded to permit engagement with the distal end of the medical port.
PERITONEAL DIALYSIS SYSTEM AND METHODS
Described herein are systems and methods for performing peritoneal dialysis. According to one aspect, the disclosure provides a sterile interface connection for connecting a water purification system to a disposable source of dialysate concentrates. The sterile interface connection can include a chamber comprising an inlet adapted to be connected to the water purification system on a proximal end and a valve on a distal end. The sterile interface connection can also include spring-loaded needle disposed in the chamber. The spring-loaded needle can move between a retracted configuration in which the spring-loaded needle is fully retracted into the chamber and the valve is closed and sealed, and an extended configuration in which the spring-loaded needle extends through the valve into the disposable source of dialysate concentrates.
Anti-microbial IV tubing protection system
Pump cassette and methods for use in medical treatment system using a plurality of fluid lines
A fluid handling cassette, such as that useable with an automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) cycler device or other infusion apparatus, may include a generally planar body having at least one pump chamber formed as a depression in a first side of the body and a plurality of flowpaths for a fluid that includes a channel. A patient line port may be arranged for connection to a patient line and be in fluid communication with the at least one pump chamber via at least a first one of said flowpaths, and an optional membrane may be attached to the first side of the body over the at least one pump chamber. In one embodiment, the membrane may have a pump chamber portion with an unstressed shape that generally conforms to the depression of the at least one pump chamber in the body and is arranged to be movable for movement of the fluid in a useable space of the at least one pump chamber. One or more spacers may be provided in the at least one pump chamber to prevent the membrane from contacting an inner wall of the at least one pump chamber. The patient line, a drain line, and/or a heater bag line may be positioned to be separately occludable in relation to one or more solution lines that are connectable to the cassette.
Medical connector contamination prevention systems
A system relating to improved medical-connector contamination prevention. More particularly, this invention relates to a reduced-touch contamination system for small-bore fluid connectors, including male and female Luer-type connectors.
Clamp
A clamp comprising: a first arcuate portion; a second arcuate portion hingedly connected to the first arcuate portion; and a ratchet mechanism for locking the first and second arcuate portions in a closed position; wherein the ratchet mechanism comprises a linear rack provided with the second arcuate portion and a pawl provided with the first arcuate portion for receiving the linear rack; wherein the linear rack comprises one or more asymmetrical teeth; wherein the pawl comprises a plurality of fingers which are biased into engagement with the teeth of the linear rack.
