Connector assembly for connecting medical lines to each other

A connector assembly for connecting medical lines (3, 4) to each other comprises a first connector (1) having an insertion shaft (12), and a second connector (2) having an insertion opening (22). For connecting the first connector (1) and the second connector (2) to each other, the insertion shaft (12) of the first connector (1) is insertable along an insertion direction (I) into the insertion opening (22) of the second connector (2). For releasing the first connector (1) and the second connector (2) from each other, the insertion shaft (12) of the first connector (1) is removable from the insertion opening (22) of the second connector (2). The first connector (1) comprises an elastic member (14) arranged on the insertion shaft (12), wherein the elastic member (14) comprises an abutment portion (141) abutting a surface (121) of the insertion shaft (12) and being displaceable along the insertion direction (I) relative to the surface (121) of the insertion shaft (12) upon releasing the first connector (1) and the second connector (2) from each other. In this way a connector assembly is provided which, in an easy way, allows for the cleaning of at least the first connector.

COUPLING ELEMENT FOR A CLOSED FLUID TRANSFER SYSTEM, ATTACHMENT FOR A COUPLING ELEMENT OF THIS TYPE, COUPLING SYSTEM, AND COUPLING KIT

A pair of coupling members for a joint closed fluid transfer system. Each coupling member of the pair of coupling members includes a coupling housing having a longitudinal axis, a fluid connection, and a coupling side. A sealing member receptacle, which is arranged in the coupling housing, includes at least one fluid-tight chamber formed by at least one sealing member arranged in the sealing member receptacle. A spike in the coupling housing in a spike receptacle, in particular a spike arranged eccentrically in the coupling housing, fluidly communicates with the fluid connection. In a first embodiment, the coupling members are each complementary to one another, in particular identical in construction, and are connectable without an adapter by a relative angular offset about their longitudinal axis, preferably by a relative angular offset of 90°.

COUPLING ELEMENT FOR A CLOSED FLUID TRANSFER SYSTEM, COUNTER COUPLING ELEMENT FOR A COUPLING ELEMENT OF THIS TYPE, AND COUPLING SYSTEM

A coupling member for a closed fluid transfer system includes a housing having a fluid connection and a coupling side. The housing includes a longitudinal axis extending from the fluid connection toward the coupling side and a spike having a fluid opening. The fluid opening is arranged in an end portion of the spike facing the coupling side. A sealing member receptacle is arranged in the housing on the coupling side, and a sealing member is arranged in the sealing member receptacle. The housing includes a housing portion that at least partially surrounds the sealing member receptacle and a threaded portion. The coupling housing with the sealing member is guided by a guiding structure and movable in the direction of the longitudinal axis via the threaded portion between a position with maximum distance to the fluid connection and a position with minimum distance to the fluid connection.

Connector system for medical fluid administration

A connector system for medical fluid administration has a female connection member, which can act as an access port for a container of medical fluid, and a male connection member, for accessing the container of medical fluid. The female connection member defines a sheath for receiving a portion of the male connection member and this sheath is spanned at one end by a septum, which acts to close the container of medical fluid. A lumen is defined through the male connection member to allow passage of fluid therethrough. The septum has a central region and a peripheral region, the central region being of substantially greater thickness than the peripheral region. The male connection member comprises means for rupturing the peripheral region of the septum when it is received in the female connection member to form a connection.

Neutral pressure split septum luer access device

A neutral pressure split-septum luer access device is described for receiving a luer lock connector. The septum has a plurality of elastomeric columns projecting laterally within a chamber. Each elastomeric column is under sufficient compression so that the columns are bowed and the column strength is reduced by bowing, but the slit sealing force is high. This configuration places the lower portion of the slit in a tightly sealed configuration which is never-the-less receptive to penetration by the male luer which causes the columns to bow further and collapse precipitously with the elastomeric force of the collapsing mass of the columns being carried distally to displace and pop open the central slit distal the tip of the male luer. The septum further provides a transverse separation between the columns and a distal sealing portion so the force of the displacement force to the sealing portion is reduced.

Methods and devices for vascular access

A catheter assembly configured for use with a male luer is provided herein. The catheter assembly can comprise a catheter hub having an interior chamber and a valve located in the interior chamber. The valve can comprise a distal portion, a proximal portion, and a sidewall extending therebetween to define a valve interior. The valve can include a barrier layer having a concave shape that extends in the valve interior from the sidewall at the distal portion. The barrier layer can have at least one slit extending therethrough that is in a normally closed configuration to prevent a fluid from passing through the barrier layer. The catheter assembly can further comprise a sealing ring located circumferentially at a distal end of the valve distally to the barrier layer. The sealing ring can form a seal between the valve and the interior chamber at the distal end.

Medical connector with closeable luer connector

Some embodiments relate to a luer connector comprising a housing having a hollow bore therethrough, a first end, and a second end, a male luer tip supported by the housing configured to rotate with respect to the housing, the luer tip having a first open end and a passageway through the luer tip in fluid communication with the first open end, and a substantially rigid internal member extending into the passageway of the luer tip toward the first open end of the luer tip. In some embodiments, at least one of the luer tip and the internal member can be axially moveable between a first closed position and a second open position relative to the other of the luer tip and the internal member. Further, the luer tip and the internal member can cooperate such that rotation of the luer tip in a first direction relative to the housing increases an axial displacement between the first open end of the luer tip and an end portion of the internal member.
