CLOSED SYSTEM CATHETER
A catheter hub assembly. The catheter hub assembly includes a catheter hub body, a septum and a septum retainer, the catheter hub body having a distal end, a proximal and an internal wall defining an internal fluid passageway therebetween, the internal wall defining a transitional step within the internal fluid passageway, the septum positioned within the internal fluid passageway such that a distal end of the septum abuts up against the transitional step, the septum retainer at least partially receivable within the internal fluid passageway and having an outer wall shaped and sized to interlock with the inner wall of the catheter hub body, the outer wall including one or more lateral ribs configured to inhibit rotation of the septum retainer relative to the catheter hub body.
Integrated pierceable seal fluid pathway connection and drug containers for drug delivery pumps
A sterile fluid pathway connector includes a piercing member, a connector hub, and a pierceable seal; wherein at least a portion of the pierceable seal is configured to move from a first position in which the piercing member is retained within a sterile cavity between the pierceable seal and the connector hub, to a second position in which the pierceable seal has been penetrated by the piercing member. A filter may be utilized to enclose the sterile cavity from the outside environment. Such fluid pathway connections may be integrated into a fluid container having a barrel and a plunger seal. The components of the fluid pathway connector may further be capable of transmitting a signal to the user upon completion of fluid delivery, for example, upon contact between the plunger seal and the pierceable seal. A fluid delivery pump includes such integrated fluid pathway connectors and fluid containers.
Flexible multi-use container, system and method of manufacture
The disclosed embodiments provide a valve structure that is hermetically sealed to a lower flange formed on an IV bag to form a one-way outlet accessible with a luer tip syringe that does not have a needle. The valve structure can include a piston in combination with a disc or disc valve. The piston can have a slit septum or opening allowing access to an interior surface of the piston. The disc valve is typically in a closed position that prevents injections or other incursions into the bag, thus preserving the integrity and sterility of the bag contents.
CATHETER HUB WITH SEALED ACCESS PORT
A catheter hub for use with a medical device and a catheter, the hub includes a hub body defining a fluid passageway in communication with a first aperture. Optionally, the hub body defines a second aperture that intersects the first aperture. The hub body attaches to the catheter wherein the fluid passageway and the catheter are aligned for fluid flow therethrough. The first aperture extends from and communicates with the fluid passageway to an exterior surface of the hub body and the first aperture configured to receive the medical device. The second aperture extends from and communicates with the first aperture and the exterior surface. A sealing element is sized for and positioned in either the first or the second apertures. The sealing element is configured to receive the medical device and seal both of the first and the second apertures.
DRAINAGE CATHETER HUB WITH A SEMI-COMPRESSED SUTURE SEAL
Described are drainage catheter hub devices which seal the hub from leakage when connected to a catheter. The catheter hub includes a hub body having an aperture with a sealing element mounted therein and a fluid passageway that communicates with the aperture. The fluid passageway and sealing element are configured to receive a tension member. A lever arm attached to the hub body is operable to secure the position of the tension member in the sealing element in a locked position or allow movement of the tension member through the sealing element in an unlocked position. The lever arm is configured to engage and compress the sealing element to block fluid flow through the sealing element and the aperture when the lever arm is in any position. The hub body may include a centering tab to align the tension member along a longitudinal axis of the hub body.
Valve Configurations for a Tunable Valve
A valve connector for a tunable valve is disclosed, with tunable features to allow for optimization. The tunable valve can include slits, which may be preferentially placed, angled and sized to optimize the crack pressure, maintenance pressures, and clearance characteristics of the connector. The tunable valve may also include a recess in the area of an exemplary center slit, which may be sized further modify the characteristics of the connector valve. The valve may be preferentially curved along either a lateral axis or a transverse axis. The tunable valve may be a proximal valve that is capable of being secured between proximal housing and distal housing. The proximal housing opening may be preferentially shaped.
Needle free connector with a collapsible resilient membrane fitting and corresponding method
A needle free connector for fluid passage having a valve body with a first port; a second port; a hollow resilient membrane disposed in the valve body and having: a first end and a second end is disclosed. A flank is provided and extends between the first end and the second end fitting with the internal surface of the valve body. A slit of the first end is closed when the first end is disposed in the first port or opened when the first end is pushed into the valve body. The disclosure also proposes a drug recipient including a bottle or a bag designed to store drug and the needle free connector. The disclosure offers a needle free connector with a slitted resilient membrane having reduced priming volume.
Peripheral intravenous catheters having flow diverting features
PIVCs with extension sets can include one or more flow diverting features for maximizing the amount of flushing that occurs within the interior of the catheter adapter. These flow diverting features can therefore minimize the amount of residual blood, medicament, or other fluid that may exist within the catheter adapter after the PIVC has been flushed via the extension set. The flow diverting features may be in the form of structural modifications to the side port of the extension set, separate components that are contained within the side port or catheter adapter, integrated components within the side port or catheter adapter, other features or some combination of any of these features.
Male reflux valve
A male reflux valve comprising a distal body portion and a proximal body portion, the proximal body portion having a male connection for connection to a female connection of an access device, a valve element operatively positioned within the distal body portion, a core operatively positioned within the distal body portion to retain the valve element into sealing engagement with the distal body portion and an actuator reciprocably retained within a generally circular cylindrical longitudinal bore of the proximal body portion in engagement with the valve element to open the valve element when engaged by the female connection of the access device.
Blood control IV catheter with antimicrobial properties
A system and method is provided for applying an anti-pathogenic material to various surfaces of a medical device, wherein the method includes identifying various surfaces of the medical tests which include noncritical dimensions, and limiting the application of the anti-pathogenic material to those surfaces. Some aspects of the invention further include the application of an anti-pathogenic lubricant material to various parts or components of a medical device to reduce friction.
