Sealed structural body and method for manufacturing the same
A sealed structural body has an internal space and is made of glass, wherein at least a part of a boundary between the internal space of the sealed structural body and the outside is separated by a sealing material containing a metal material and a lead-free oxide glass. The lead-free oxide glass contains at least one of element Ag or P, Te, and V.
Display case door assembly with tempered glass vacuum panel
A display case door assembly for a temperature-controlled storage device includes an opening into the temperature-controlled storage device and a vacuum panel mounted within the opening. The vacuum panel includes a first vacuum pane of tempered glass, a second vacuum pane of tempered glass, and an evacuated gap between the first and second vacuum panes. The evacuated gap has a predetermined thickness within which a vacuum is drawn, thereby providing a thermal insulation effect for the vacuum panel. The vacuum panel further includes a plurality of spacers disposed within the evacuated gap and configured to maintain the predetermined thickness of the evacuated gap when the vacuum is drawn therein.
Window having vacuum insulated glass (VIG) unit and frame including vacuum insulated structure(s)
A window includes a vacuum insulating glass (VIG) window unit in a window frame. The window frame includes at least one vacuum insulated structure (VIS) for improving the insulating functionality of the frame, so that the frame can adequately insulate the periphery of the VIG unit. Such windows may be used in residential and/or commercial window applications for buildings. The use of a window frame having at least one VIS is advantageous in that allows for improved window frame thermal performance and a narrow frame design if desired for improved aesthetics.
Vacuum insulating glass (VIG) unit with pump-out port sealed using metal solder seal, and/or method of making the same
Certain example embodiments relate to vacuum insulating glass units having pump-out hole seals formed in connection with solder alloys that, when reactively reflowed, wet pre-coated metallic coatings, and/or associated methods. The alloys may be based on materials that form seals at temperatures that will not de-temper glass and/or decompose a laminate, and/or remain hermetic and lack porous structures in their bulks. SAC, InAg, and/or other preform materials may be used in different example embodiments.
PANEL ASSEMBLY, REFRIGERATOR, AND HOME APPLIANCES
A home appliance includes a refrigerator including a panel assembly. The panel assembly includes: a first panel formed of a glass material; a second panel spaced apart from the first panel and formed of a glass material; a plurality of spacers provided between the first panel and the second panel so as to maintain a gap between the first panel and the second panel, and arranged to be spaced apart from each other; a sealing member disposed between the first panel and the second panel for sealing a space between the first panel and the second panel; an exhaust hole provided in at least one of the first panel and the second panel so as to discharge air such that the space between the first panel and the second panel becomes a vacuum insulation space; and a cover member covering the exhaust hole.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AN INSULATING GLAZING UNIT AND COMPLIANT SEAL FOR AN INSULATING GLAZING UNIT
A vacuum insulating glazing unit (VIGU) comprises two or more glass lites (panes) spaced apart from one another and hermetically bonded to an edge seal assembly therebetween. The resulting cavity between the lites is evacuated to create at least one insulating vacuum cavity within which are disposed a plurality of stand-off members to maintain separation between the lites. The edge seal assembly is preferably compliant in the longitudinal (i.e., edgewise) direction to allow longitudinal relative motion between the two lites (e.g., from thermal expansion). The longitudinal compliance may be obtained by imprinting a three-dimensional pattern into the edge seal material. The edge seal assembly is preferably bonded to the lites with a first bond portion that is hermetic and a second bond portion that is load-resistant. Methods for producing VIGUs and/or compliant edge seal assemblies and VIGU and edge seal apparatus are disclosed.
THERMAL TREATMENT OF PANE ELEMENTS FOR VACUUM INSULATING GLASS UNITS
A method for manufacturing a plurality of vacuum insulating glass (VIG) units, wherein the method comprises providing a plurality of first glass panes, applying a soldering material arranged for subsequent connection with a second glass pane to provide a seal between an outside of the VIG unit and an inside void of the VIG unit, moving the first glass panes comprising the soldering material into a treatment compartment, wherein the treatment compartment is pre-heated, drying the soldering material in a heating step by evaporating solvent, wherein the heating is forced convection heating, moving the first glass panes to a cooling compartment, cooling first glass panes and the soldering material thereon in a cooling step, wherein the cooling is by forced convection cooling, moving the first glass panes from the cooling compartment, and subsequently connecting the first glass panes to second glass panes using the dried soldering material.
GLASS PANEL UNIT, GLASS WINDOW PROVIDED WITH SAME, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS PANEL UNIT
A glass panel unit includes: a first panel; a second panel facing the first panel; a sealing member bonded to respective facing peripheral portions of the first panel and the second panel; and at least one spacer provided in a reduced pressure space between the first panel and the second panel. The at least one spacer includes a resin body and at least one ultraviolet protective layer provided on a surface of the resin body.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMPROVED LOUVER WINDOWS
The system includes a series of operable louvers mounted on a four-sided frame and connected on each side to the operating mechanism that allows for easy opening and closing of the louvers. Every part of the system that is exposing to the exterior of the building is separated from the interior part of the system by a low heat conductivity material as a thermal barrier. Each operable louver is composing of a four-sided main frame, two panes of glass (inner and outer) and a coupling mechanism on each side that connects to the operating mechanism. The main frame acts as the thermal break as well as a system that absorbs the energy created when an outside object impacts the window from the outside. The system incorporates sealing devices between all moving parts to eliminate water and air infiltration. The operating system allows for easy opening and closing of the window by rotating each louver with the crank mechanism assisted by springs.
