Multi_use disinfecting cap and method
A multi-use disinfecting cap and method for disinfection and protection of a needleless IV injection port. The disinfecting cap has an upper chamber which contains a sterilizing solution and a low chamber which connects to a needleless IV injection port. The fluid can be manipulated to flow between the two chambers. When in use the cap protects and disinfects a needleless IV injection port when exposed prior to injecting medication into the needleless port and continues to disinfect and protect prior for any subsequent exposures. The cap is re-usable and provides a clear indication of the disinfecting solution and a datable top surface. The multi-use disinfecting cap may be removably clipped to the IV tubing and is shaped to prevent accidental rolling away if dropped.
Capping device for disinfecting medical injection membranes
A device for disinfection of a medical injection port is provided. The device includes a capping portion having an inner surface, a hollow portion having an inner surface, a proximal opening, and a distal opening, a connector coupling the capping portion of the device to the hollow portion thereof, and a disinfecting absorbent material disposed inside the capping portion of the device. The connector permits movement of the capping portion between a fully-seated position on the hollow portion of the device, and a position apart from the proximal opening thereof to permit ingress to the medical injection port.
Needleless connector with antimicrobial properties
A needleless connector and methods for preventing microbial ingress in medical device connections are disclosed. Various examples provide a needleless connector including a male luer having a recessed distal tip surface containing a water-soluble antimicrobial composition. Further examples include a trap for retaining antimicrobial composition. As the needleless connector is inserted into a female connector, a tapered surface distal edge acts to push microorganisms, while the distal tip surface is configured to leave microorganisms undisturbed. After insertion of the needleless connector, microorganisms present on the female luer surface are biased to reside in the recess region. The recess, trap, and antimicrobial composition are configured to facilitate a long-lasting supply of antimicrobial solution within the fluid-filled recess, at the same time confining the antimicrobial solution inside the recess. This produces a high concentration of antimicrobial solution for an extended time, killing microbes, stopping microbial ingress, and preventing infections in patients.
Tubing set with antimicrobial properties
The disclosure provides a method for preventing infection and microbial ingress in medical device connections between tubing sets and medical devices. The tubing set includes a male connector with a distal tip and a recess at the distal tip configured to trap bacterial, and deliver and confine antimicrobial into solution within a cavity formed by the recess. The surface of the recess includes an antimicrobial composition. In certain implementations a male luer comprises a tapered sealing member further comprising a recess containing chlorhexidine acetate.
Device for delivering an antimicrobial composition into an infusion device
The present disclosure is directed to a device for delivering an antimicrobial composition into an infusion device. The disclosure provides a method for preventing infection and microbial ingress in medical device connections. The device includes a male connector with a distal tip and a recess at the distal tip. The surface of the recess includes an antimicrobial composition. In certain implementations a male luer comprises a tapered sealing member further comprising a recess containing chlorhexidine acetate.

ANTIMICROBIAL LIGHT-EMITTING OROPHARYNGEAL DEVICE FOR VENTILATOR-ASSOCIATED PNEUMONIA
A method of reducing the risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia by decontaminating the oropharynx using a safe, antimicrobial light-emitting device.
Medical fluid connectors and methods for providing additives in medical fluid lines
Disclosed is a medical fluid connector configured to receive and dispense medical liquid. The medical connector can be structured to include an initial stage in which medical liquid is infused into the connector and dispensed out of the connector essentially unchanged. The medical connector also can be structured to include a subsequent stage in which medical liquid is not infused into the connector and a volume of therapeutic liquid is dispensed out of the connector. The therapeutic liquid can include a portion of the volume of the medical liquid that was infused into the connector in the initial stage plus a therapeutic additive.
Universal cap for male and female connectors
A cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the cap includes a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a cavity, and an integrally formed protrusion. The protrusion includes an inner thread on an inner surface, the inner thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a female needleless connector. The inner surface of the protrusion defines a second cavity. The outer surface of the sidewall of the protrusion is tapered and adapted to engage a male luer connector in a press-fit connection. The second cavity configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The cap may also include a peel seal to prevent the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the second cavity. An exterior sidewall surface of the housing may include a plurality of grip members.
