Flow control plug securement
A catheter system may include a luer adapter, which may include an outer surface having threading or a recess. The catheter system may also include a flow control plug, which may include a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end of the flow control plug may include a filter element permeable to air and not to blood. The distal end of the flow control plug may include a cylinder and a taper-shaped luer tip spaced apart from the cylinder. An inner surface of the cylinder may include a protrusion engaged in a snap-fit with the recess or corresponding threading mated with the threading.
VASCULAR ACCESS DEVICE HAVING A VENTED BLOOD COLLECTION PORT
A vascular access device may have a vented blood collection port. The vented blood collection port can be provided on a side port of the vascular access device that is positioned between a catheter adapter and an extension set. The side port provides separate fluid pathways for collecting blood and injecting fluids to thereby isolate the blood from the extension set. The vented blood collection port may be provided in the form of a septum housing that moves from a blood collection position to a fluid injection position. When in the blood collection position, the septum housing may enable the extension set to be primed and remain primed during a blood draw.
Drug delivery device and method for connecting a fluid flowpath
Provided herein is a fluid pathway connection assembly, e.g., for connecting a fluid flowpath within a drug delivery device for delivery of a medicament to a target site. The fluid pathway connection assembly comprises a hollow needle piercing member, a sleeve fixedly engaged with the piercing member and a pierceable seal configured to sealingly engage the piercing member or the sleeve. Upon, sealing engagement, the piercing member or the sleeve and the pierceable seal form a volume within which a portion of the piercing member is disposed. The fluid pathway connection assembly is activated by relative movement between the piercing member and the pierceable seal and activation causes the piercing member to pierce the pierceable seal, thereby establishing a fluid flowpath through the pierceable seal. Upon incorporation of the assembly into a sealed fluid flowpath, the volume is isolated from the environment and maintains the sterile condition of the portion of the piercing member disposed therein. Also provided herein are drug delivery pumps and methods of operating and assembling the assemblies and pumps described herein.
MEDICAL INFUSION SYSTEM
A medical infusion system includes a hose line with a distal end region for connection to an infusion reservoir and a proximal end region that has a patient connection port. The patient connection port has a closure device with an air-permeable and liquid-tight design. The system can be used in the medical sector for intravenous medication.
SINGLE USE CAPS AND COVERS FOR VASCULAR ACCESS DEVICES, AND KITS AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME
This invention concerns improved single use caps or covers for vascular access devices such as needlefree connectors that are used, for example, in intravenous administration sets and extension sets. Removal of a single use cap or cover according to the invention from a vascular access device destroys the cap such that it cannot be reused. Such single use caps and covers will help ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols in healthcare settings, which will assist in reducing the incidence of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), particularly catheter-related blood stream infections. Assemblies and kits its including such caps and covers, for example, IV administration and extension sets that include one or more needlefree connectors, as well as methods for using such caps and covers, are also described.

PRESSURE RELIEF MECHANISM FOR SORBENT CANISTERS
A sorbent canister utilized when performing a dialysis treatment during hemodialysis (HD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD) is provided. The sorbent canister includes inlet and outlet ports that include a threaded interface for connection to inlet and outlet tubes for circulation of dialysate through the sorbent canister. Upon disconnection from a dialysis machine, a pressure relief cap can be threaded onto the threaded interface to seal the fluid in the sorbent canister while allowing for off-gases to be expelled when a pressure within the sorbent canister exceeds a threshold pressure, thereby preventing a rupture in the canister body. In one embodiment, the pressure relief cap includes a deformable insert with a hole formed therein that is closed in an uncompressed state and opened in a compressed state. In another embodiment, the pressure relief cap includes a diaphragm that mates with a feature of the inlet or outlet port.
PRIMING DEVICE AND SYSTEM
The present disclosure provides a priming device, the priming device including: a housing having a proximal end and a distal end, the housing defining an axial direction extending substantially from the proximal end to the distal end; and a membrane disposed at the proximal end, wherein the housing defines a fluid communication channel extending substantially axially from an interior surface of the membrane towards the distal end and a filter disposed at the distal end of the housing, the filter being configured to allow a passage of air. In another aspect, there is provided a priming device having an adapter.
ONE-TIME PRIMING IV INFUSION EXTENSION SET
A multi-tubing intravenous (IV) extension set may include an outlet tubing fluidly coupled to a primary multi-tubing connector at one end and fluidly coupled to a vascular device at an opposite end, and a primary inlet tubing having a proximal end with an adapter for connection to a syringe containing a priming or a medicinal fluid, and a distal end coupled to the primary multi-tubing connector. The IV extension set may further include at least one secondary inlet tubing with a proximal end having an adapter for receiving a medicinal fluid and a distal end selectively fluidly coupled to the primary multi-tubing connector. A slide clamp may be positioned on the outlet tubing to restrict flow between the proximal and distal ends of the outlet tubing and cause priming fluid flowing into the outlet tubing via the multi-tubing connector to reverse direction into the at least one secondary inlet tubing.
Vascular Access Device Adapter
A vascular access device adapter allowing for interchangeable connections between separate components of a larger extravascular system while minimizing exposure to non-sterile environments in point-of-care testing and analysis is provided. The vascular access device adapter includes a body having a self-healing puncturable septum secured by an end cap by which hollow small gauge needles may extract or deposit fluid. The adapter device further includes an end cap enclosing the septum, the end cap having ribs which removably secure the adapter to the inner housing of a sample collection device.
