SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING PHYSIOLOGICAL STATUS OF LIVING SUBJECT AND ADMINISTERING SUBSTANCES THEREFOR

An implantable device for monitoring a physiological status and administering drugs therefor includes at least one drug reservoir for containing at least one drug solution; a delivering member coupled to the at least one drug reservoir for operably delivering the at least one drug solution from the at least one drug reservoir to the living subject; a sensor member for measuring physiological parameters of a living subject so as to monitor a physiological status of the living subject; a wireless communication system for wireless data transmission; a power management system for wireless power harvesting; and a controller coupled to the power management system, the wireless communication system, the sensor member and the delivering member for wireless data transmission and power harvesting; obtaining the physiological status of the living subject, and controlling operations of the delivering member based on the physiological status of the living subject.

Line, in particular a line of a blood tubing system or of a blood bag system

A line, in particular to a line of a blood tubing system or of a blood bag system, having a closing member blocking the line passage, with the closing member being formed by a plastically deformable closing body which is arranged in the line and which closes the line in at least one state and with at least the portion of the line in which the closing body is located being made flexible.

PORTABLE MEDICAL GAS DELIVERY SYSTEM
20170021115 · 2017-01-26 ·

An apparatus for producing gas for use in medical applications. The apparatus includes a compressed gas unit having at least one container of compressed gas and a solenoid valve. An adjustable pressure regulator communicably connected to the gas container, separate and distinct from the solenoid valve, is adjusted to control the pressure of the gas provided from the container to the solenoid valve. An electrical power source is connected to the solenoid valve. A pressure activated electronic switch connected to the power source is responsive to a selected amount of voluntary fingertip, pressure for opening the solenoid valve to transmit the gas therethrough to a conduit, which further transmits the gas to a destination for use or storage.

An enema includes a liquid in a dispenser having a bottle, a nozzle attached to the bottle, and a valve. The valve may be a membrane having a slit and a thickness of at most 0.90 mm. The valve may be attached to the bottle or it may be attached to the nozzle. The enema can be administered more easily, with a lower amount of force. A method of bowel cleansing includes inserting the enema into a rectum and applying a compression force to the enema bottle.

Blood control for a catheter insertion device

A fluid control component configured for controlling fluid flow through the hub of a catheter assembly during and after placement into the patient is disclosed. In one embodiment, the fluid control component comprises a body disposed within a cavity of the hub, the body being movable between a first position and a second position, wherein the body does not pierce a valve disposed in the hub when in the first position and wherein the body pierces the valve when in the second position. The body includes a conduit to enable fluid flow through an internal portion of the body when the body is in the second position, and a plurality of longitudinal ribs disposed on an exterior surface of the body. The longitudinal ribs can provide fluid flow channels between the valve and an external portion of the body when the body is in the second position.

Blood Control for a Catheter Insertion Device

A catheter placement tool includes a housing and a catheter assembly. The catheter assembly includes a fluid control component configured for controlling fluid flow through a hub of the catheter assembly during and after placement into the patient. The fluid control component is disposed within a cavity of the hub and is movable between a proximal position and a distal position. The fluid control component does not pierce a valve disposed in the hub when in the proximal position but pierces the valve when in the distal position. The fluid control component includes a conduit to enable fluid flow through an internal portion in the distal position. A plurality of longitudinal ribs can be disposed on an exterior surface of the fluid control component. The longitudinal ribs can provide fluid flow channels between the valve and an external portion of the fluid control component.
