TESTER VALVE BELOW A PRODUCTION PACKER
A downhole tester valve disposed below an isolation member in a test string may facilitate a shut-in drill stem test procedure. The positioning of the tester valve allows the tester valve to remain in a static location when the test string above the isolation member expands or contracts. The volume of a wellbore interval below the isolation member may remain constant and pressure readings over the duration of a shut-in DST test period may effectively be monitored. The tester valve is operatively associated with a communication unit that permits selective activation of the tester valve from across the isolation member, and in some example embodiments, an actuator for operating the tester valve is also is also operable to set the isolation member in the wellbore.
Non-Extruding Single Packer
An inflatable packer assembly for conveyance and adjustment within a wellbore. The inflatable packer assembly includes a first end assembly, a second end assembly, and a mandrel extending between the first and second end assemblies and comprising a fluid port on an outer surface of the mandrel. The inflatable packer assembly further includes an expandable packer disposed around the mandrel and sealingly connected with one or both of the first and second end assemblies. At least a portion of the first end assembly extends around the mandrel to define an annular space between the first end assembly and the mandrel. The fluid port extends to the annular space and passes a fluid to inflate the expandable packer.
ALTERNATE FLOW PATHS FOR SINGLE TRIP MULTI-ZONE SYSTEMS
A single trip multi-zone completion system includes a plurality of completion sections operatively coupled together and extendable within a wellbore. Each completion section includes a base pipe providing an interior and defining one or more perforations at a single axial location to provide fluid communication between the interior and an annulus defined between the completion section and a wellbore wall. One or more sand screens are radially offset from the base pipe such that a flow annulus is defined therebetween, and a production sleeve is movably arranged within the interior of the base pipe between a closed position, where the production sleeve occludes the one or more perforations, and an open position, where the one or more perforations are exposed. A shunt system is positioned about the base pipe to receive and redirect a gravel slurry flowing in the annulus, and thereby provide an alternate flow path for the gravel slurry.
Isolation device with multiple pressure stages to isolate well interval
A well interval isolation device is disclosed. The wellbore isolation device may have a plurality of expandable elements that cooperate upon expansion downhole in a wellbore to create multiple isolated well intervals. At least two pairs of expandable elements that are spaced apart on a tool string are usable to create both a primary isolated well interval and at least one isolated guard interval on each of an uphole side and a downhole side of the primary isolated well interval. The isolated guard intervals function to further isolate the primary isolated well interval from surrounding well fluid, thereby allowing a difference between the pressure within the primary isolated well interval and the hydrostatic pressure of the well fluid (i.e., the differential pressure) to safely exceed the maximum differential pressure at which any of the individual expandable elements can operate while simultaneously maintaining isolation of the well intervals.
