DRAG BLOCK ASSEMBLY
20170183921 · 2017-06-29 ·

Disclosed is a drag block assembly for use with a downhole tool in a subterranean well, such as packers or bridge plugs. The drag block assembly comprises a generally cylindrically shaped sleeve and a block element. The block element is mounted to the sleeve such that it can radially slide. The block element is outwardly biased from the sleeve by an electromagnetic element.

Isolation liner incorporating a drill pipe with swell packers
09611715 · 2017-04-04 · ·

An isolation liner incorporating a drill pipe and a swell packer, the swell packer configured to simultaneously cut and seals a wellbore, or slide down and seal a wellbore having a swellable section and a pair of end rings. The end rings couple the cylindrical body to the swellable wellbore packer section. Each end ring forms an annular abutment surface that cooperates with the swellable member to inhibit axial movement of the swellable member on the substantially cylindrical body. On each end ring, at least one diamond cutter insert, polyamide button, and/or tungsten carbide blocks is installed circumferentially and spaced apart symmetrically or near-symmetrically on the end ring.

WELL PLUG ANCHOR TOOL
20170081941 · 2017-03-23 ·

A plug assembly, an anchor tool for a plug, and methods for deploying a plug in a wellbore, of which the anchor tool includes a body, engaging members coupled with the body and configured to expand outward from the body, and a sliding sleeve positioned at least partially around the body. When the sliding sleeve is in a first position, the sliding sleeve covers the engaging members and restrains the engaging members from expanding, and when the sliding sleeve is in a second position, the sliding sleeve uncovers the engaging members and permits the engaging members to expand. The anchor tool also includes a friction-inducing member positioned around the body, and a shearable member coupled with the friction-inducing member and the body. The shearable member restrains the friction-inducing member, causing the friction-inducing member to maintain the sliding sleeve in the first position, until the shearable member is sheared.

Systems And Methods For Flow-Activated Initiation Of Plug Assembly Flow Seats
20250116170 · 2025-04-10 ·

The present disclosure describes systems and methods for flow-activated plug assembly flow seat initiation, which in some aspects may comprise sealing a plug within a downhole bore, and may include a plug assembly comprising a frustoconical tube; a tubular mandrel positioned longitudinally through the frustoconical tube and having port(s) fluidly connecting a mandrel bore with the bore of the frustoconical tube, and having a shear member extending from the mandrel; and a ball configured to fluidly seal the proximal end of the tubular mandrel; wherein the tubular mandrel is configured to move between a first position having a fluid passageway through the ports and a second position wherein the shear member has been sheared away when a predetermined fluid pressure is applied to the plug assembly and the tubular mandrel is positioned relative to the frustoconical tube such that the port(s) are blocked, closing the fluid passageway.
