Welding overtube

Apparatus and methods are described including coupling a rigid tube to a drive cable that comprises a plurality of coiled wires, by placing ends of the drive cable and the rigid tube at a given location within a butt-welding overtube. The ends of the drive cable and the rigid tube are visible when they are disposed at the given location within the butt-welding overtube, via a window defined by the butt-welding overtube. The placement of the drive cable within the butt-welding overtube is such that a helical groove within a portion of the butt-welding overtube is disposed over the drive cable. Welding rings are formed around the butt-welding overtube. Other applications are also described.

Catheter device

The catheter device comprises a drive shaft connected to a motor, and a rotor mounted on the drive shaft at the distal end section. The rotor has a frame structure which is formed by a screw-like boundary frame and rotor struts extending radially inwards from the boundary frame. The rotor struts are fastened to the drive shaft by their ends opposite the boundary frame. Between the boundary frame and the drive shaft extends an elastic covering. The frame structure is made of an elastic material such that, after forced compression, the rotor unfolds automatically.

An electromagnetic rotary drive includes a contactlessly magnetically drivable rotor that is coil-free and free of permanent magnets and that includes a magnetically effective core, and a stator by which the rotor is contactlessly magnetically drivable about a desired axis of rotation in the operating state. The stator has a plurality of coil cores of which each includes a bar-shaped longitudinal limb extending from a first end in a direction in parallel with the desired axis of rotation up to a second end, all the first ends being connected by a reflux of windings generate an electromagnetic rotational field of which each surrounds one of the longitudinal limbs. The coil cores include a plurality of permanent magnets by which a permanent magnetic pre-magnetization flux can be generated.

Magnetically levitated and driven blood pump and method for using the same

A device for pumping blood, includes a housing having a distal end adapted to be coupled to a catheter, a proximal end having an outlet, and a tubular body extending between the distal and proximal ends along an axis. A rotor is rotatably disposed within the housing. A first magnetic bearing is operative to levitate the rotor along the axis within the housing. A second magnetic bearing controls a rotational frequency of the rotor. A third magnetic bearing controls a radial position of the rotor.
